Their Associate Head Coach was recommended by Mike Montgomery to get the head job.

If I had to guess why Rorie is not coming to Cal, it probably had to do with Martin stating that he would not be bringing Travis DeCuire back. Rorie was recruited primarily by DeCuire, and I imagine he wanted him on staff. But DeCuire probably wasn't going to accept a demotion now that Tracy Webster will be taking his spot as the associate coach on the bench (or Martin might have wanted to recharge to just shuffle things up), so Rorie decided to look for other options."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
