My understanding is that he hasn't been declared ineligible. He just hasn't been cleared yet and with classes starting it sounds like Alabama didn't want to risk having him enroll and potentially waste a scholarship.
So I think he could still go D1 this year, but he'll have to find someone willing to take a risk, or hope to get cleared by the NCAA very, very soon.
Not a good look for his HS teammate Diallo. Kansas staff knew damn well there would be an issue (took anyway), now people are upset with the NCAA. This is too funny.
So am I understanding this correct - the phlock's prized recruit may have some eligibility issues?

Part of this is about English as a second language courses and whether those should be counted as true English core courses.
Part of what is in question about those courses is what exactly was taught and was it truly academic in study of a language or more along the lines of simply speaking a language.

Or perhaps a "hey, you're a blue chipper, here's your GPA raiser" class?
Edit: I can not even begin to imagine the laughter coming out of Wichita if the mighty Chickadees don't get to play their hot shot recruit. I for one will be laughing like a loon.

Two years in a row Bill Self & staff didn't see bad news coming with a recruit. Maybe KU fans should be looking inward about their issues lol.
Edit: Easy way to sustain hype and then have an excuse if the season doesn't pan out.

I have a feeling Self knew the risks with Alexander and Diallo. But with the pressure to reel-in that level of recruit and not fall from blue-blood status, he's having to settle for the riskier ones.

I think he sees it. He's just willing to take the risks to get anybody in that he can. As a blue blood, the pressure is on for him to win (more than just the overrated Big12). He is desperate, because he's never proven himself to do very well in the one and done era of recruiting while trying to keep up with the UK/Duke/UNC type of blue bloods. He's grasping at straws and hairpieces.
Edit: Royal beat me to it.
