They do practice everyday so just because we don't see, it's not like the coaches aren't coaching, and getting any data.

Don't know where to post this as well. With the loss of DJ Bowles do you think our coaches have made any overtures to Dante Exum to play the 2nd half of this season? I believe he would be eligible to play 2nd semester which would qualify him for the NBA this spring. Trop?

Last I saw Exum was going to remain In Australia and not play college ball 2nd semester.

Certainly an interesting idea, Signman. The Shocker coaches are resourceful enough that if they thought it made sense, they'd consider it. I don't know that someone just displaying his wares for a few months would necessarily fit into what Marshall is trying to do, though -- would he be willing to grind it out in practice the way the Shockers do? And if not, would he still get to play (and if he did, how would that affect the team's mindset and chemistry)? A lot of people seem to think these days that the downturn of Rick Barnes's program coincided with his success in recruiting showcase players who only stuck around for a year or two (not Durant, who was from all accounts the world's greatest team guy, but the others of good but lesser talent, and less team-oriented attitude). I can't see Marshall wanting to risk even stepping on that path.

Exum seems like a great talent but a high-risk proposition, and I suspect WSU would have to be pretty much 100% convinced of the attitudinal fit to take the chance. Maybe you should ask Marshall sometime, though -- it's probably a better question than the ones he gets from Ron and Dennis.

Ask him, just not on air or in a public forum.
