  • I don't know if we will get Willie or not, however, last year we got top 10 JUCO Darius Carter (#8), PF. in 2012 we got top 10 JUCOs Nick Wiggins (#9), SF & Cleanthony Early (#2), PF. In 2011 we got top 10 JUCO Carl Hall (#4), PF. Since 2011 we have a record of 88-15 with two (soon to be three) NCAA bids, a final four, and an undefeated season in process. Willie Atwood is the #4 JUCO, and plays PF. Seems like a good fit!

    • I feel the addition of Atwood gets us closer to maintaining what was built this season. We lose our entire front-line rotation except for Carter, which we all expect to have a Sr season similar to Carl Hall. Shaq is a wild card because we truly don't know to what degree how he will play once the lights are turned on. Hamilton is a true Fr, who some believe is a RS candidate, B-Wam I don't put a whole lot of faith in contributing much right away, and Kelly who looks like the most promising out of the gate front-line new player, but still is a Fr. It is easier to predict what Atwood will bring to the table with our previous history with Carter and Hall. If we get that kind of production, we will be fine.

Oh, did I fail to mention our guards FVV, Baker, Cotton and Evan will be one year better. SHOXMVC like!!!

I'm not impressed by the idea of "BCS" offers unless we're going to start playing football. I'm not sure why that would even matter. I don't want to have a program that's at the same level of Georgia or Alabama, so bragging about those programs recruiting the same guys we are is weird to me.

I absolutely trust Gregg Marshall ... I bet these guys are going to be incredible in his system. But I'm sticking with "lightly regarded." Kelly is the only one who has an offer list of programs that should even be in our ballpark: Cinci and Xavier.

I just don't see a ridiculous list of recruits that I'm sitting back going "I can't imagine how we'd fit this guy into this class."
Brown was rated by almost every ratings group to be a consensus 3* #150-200 player and committed so early (two years ago this spring) that other teams backed off of him quickly. He was definitely gathering steam when he committed. Also, Marshall mentioned him to be a possible 2,3,or 4 player in the same style as a more athletic Evan Wessell. The reason why Kelly and Brown are more seasoned is because they both went to a post graduate prep school. Hamilton hasn't gone to a prep school yet. What we do need immediately is a player who is prepared to be able to score the ball (both outside and as a slasher if possible). I think that is what we will end up with because we are losing both Early and Wiggins.

        • If Willie is concerned about playing for a big time program, all he needs to do is turn on ESPN.

They might as well rename it the Entertainment and Shockers Programming Network.

Come and hope on the train, because it's going to keep rollin' on.

          • Can someone confirm that we have Zach Brown for 4 years? Sunrise Christian is a prep school, not a JUCO, and he has already graduated high school.

            • All is correct. He has 4 years of eligibility.

                          • It seems that a 33-0 team returning everybody other than the position a recruit plays might seem like an attractive opportunity for that recruit.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Amended. 34-0 team returning everybody other than the position a recruit plays. Honestly, if Atwood chooses to go elsewhere, it's probably best as I'm thinking he wouldn't have followed 3G's method of team play and wouldn't be as unselfish as Cle has been this season. If he does show up here (when's the soonest he can announce, at the end of the season? I seem to remember Darius committing right after the FF.), he's got a spot in the rotation at the 4, no doubt about it.

                              • Dear William,
Do you like perfectly thrown lob passes?
                                Every time?
                                I think you do.

P.S. As I noted in my previous post, we are cutting down more nets today.
