If Mr. Atwood is anywhere as good as he apparently is, then there can be little doubt that the depth and quality of our center and power forward positions will be be significantly improved if he becomes a Shocker.
Unquestionably, with FVV, Baker, and Cotton coming back, we will have an excellent team no matter how well this years incoming recruits and last year's redshirted recruits pan out.

I say we let HCGM and the coaches figure out who is on the team. This staff has proven over and over that they know what they're doing.
We fans are in the luxurious position of being able to "follow" recruiting instead of past years where we served as a spear point for the incompetent Mike Cohen and a gent who couldn't seem to recognize his limitations in Scott Thompson. You may recall Cohen's ignorance to the existence of local stars like Adrian Griffin and Steve Woodbury. And when Thompson stated on his radio show that he didn't recruit John Ontjes because we had a guy that was better in KC Hunt it was a sickening moment of stark clarity with an immediate palm to the forehead.
The dark days are gone so let's enjoy the light.

Sorry - never meant to infer that we interfere with their decisions. I'm just pointing out that we don't have to be concerned about scholarship limits and other issues because we have a great coaching staff that has a plan way out in front of what we can imagine. We can research the potential recruits, watch their videos, give our own analysis and follow the process, which is what we should be able to do. Go back 15 - 20 years ago or more and the people on this board knew MORE about evaluating talent than those coaches. That was very frustrating (apparently I am still pissed about it).
Now, we can enjoy the ride knowing that HCGM is one of the best talent evaluators in the country and that he will never get tired, never get satisfied and never phone it in.

I'm not impressed by the idea of "BCS" offers unless we're going to start playing football. I'm not sure why that would even matter. I don't want to have a program that's at the same level of Georgia or Alabama, so bragging about those programs recruiting the same guys we are is weird to me.
I absolutely trust Gregg Marshall ... I bet these guys are going to be incredible in his system. But I'm sticking with "lightly regarded." Kelly is the only one who has an offer list of programs that should even be in our ballpark: Cinci and Xavier.
I just don't see a ridiculous list of recruits that I'm sitting back going "I can't imagine how we'd fit this guy into this class."Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

To say I'm putting stock in each and every unknown panning out is a stretch, but there's a lot of talent coming in with or without Atwood.
Saying we already have a lot of talent coming in with or without him doesn't explain why we wouldn't want him. I want the most talented recruiting class possible, based on Marshall's evaluation of talent. I don't see a reason to be sitting here going "Hold on, Coach, I think what we have is good enough. Let's just stop."Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

If this story sounds familiar, you know the story of Fred VanVleet’s commitment to Wichita State, which really meant a commitment.
Sunrise Christian Academy forward Zach Brown (6-foot-7) gave WSU a non-binding commitment in May. Soon after, he played in a tournament in California and schools such as Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Alabama and Kansas State wanted in the hunt.
“He had some incredible looks down in California. Several other big, major schools were very interested and ready to offer him. Wichita State was the obvious choice for him. He never looked back or gave any other consideration because he feels so strongly about the program.”"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
