  • 247Sports Rankings

247Sports include their top 247 which makes it interesting since several of our recriuts are listed. I'm first going to list those who I think are realistic possibilities for us:

#176 Isaiah Wilkins. We recently made the final 10 list for the 6-7sf but a few experts are already calling it for Virginia.

#181 Sean O'Mara. We are in his final 6 but Loyola and Xavier are thought t be the favorite for the 6-10 center.

#197 Satchel Pierce. Word just recieved that we will have a home visit for the 7 footer. One expert named three others schools, including K-State as being in the best shape for him. Perhaps that can change since it doesn't look like we offered at that time.

#198 Omar Sherman. We keep being mentioned as one of the few schools invoved and the Shockers
have offered. It turns out that there are several more. My understanding is he is only interested in a few. The Shockers just might be one of them.

8/19 update. WSU among three set official visits .

#207 Tory Miller. I almost put the 6-7 pf on the no shot list but I understand he might consider a couple of offical visits back to the Midwest. Since I have no clue on who one of the schools are, I kept him on this list.

8/19 update. WSU not on his list of 5 visits

    # 211 Elisha Boone We gave an early look and not on any list for him. Very doubtful for the New York native pg.

8/19 update: Shockers not on his final five list.

#224 Sam Logwood. We gave a late offer for the pg and probably have a lot of ground to make up.

Here are those who have committed to other schools, dropped the Shockers from their list, or appears to me the likelyhood of them becoming Shockers is close to zero. I'll indicate that last category as (IMO).

    #34 Grayson Allen
    #37 Josh Perkins
    #72 Makinde London
    #73 Alex Robinson
    #78 Lourawals Nairn
    #101 Mikal Bridges
    #105 William Lee (IMO)
    #108 Dante Buford
    #118 Nick Babbs
    #120 Troy Holston
    #129 Isaac Haas
    #134 Gary Clark (IMO)
    #164 Jacob Hammond
    #246 Gavin Skelly
    # 247 Ore Orogundade

Here are known recruits outside the top 247 who appear very interested in WSU:

Terrell Miller. The 6-8 pf recently said WSU was standing out a little.

Rahard Kelly. Look for a September visit from the late blooming 6-6 pf.

Rasheed Worrell. The 6-8 pf willl soon be taking an unofficial visit to the Shockers.

Well, trop, I'll certainly defer to you on matters of recruiting; and I'm not about to predict that any on your "unlikely list" above will necessarily become Shockers.

But I am willing to bet that at least a few of them, regardless of who's supposedly on their final lists, or even where they commit at this point, will end up actually signing somewhere that supposedly isn't on their radar right now. It happens every year, and there's no reason to believe it won't this year as well.

        Thanks, Trop.

I am somewhat disappointed. I thought the Final Four bump would be more pronounced.

The Final Four bump will be more noticable the following year I think. A lot of kids for '14 would have narrowed down their focus and while it still opens some doors, the recruits 2 or 3 years out are the ones it should have more effect on as you get more time to let it sink into them as you're recruiting and you have the chance to build upon it with more March success.

I'd also say Watchers theory holds weight only to a certain point. When you start talking about top 150 and maybe even 250 guys, you're going to see less of them signing with schools that we didn't see in the running. The better the recruit, the more information that's available and the more the recruiting networks stay on top of them with info.

It's early as we are after some good players who will not decide until after visits. If we get the right ones, it could compete for Marshall's best recruiting class.

Zach Brown and Darius Carter both might have been swayed by the FF--that's a pretty good bump already.

                  If I'm remembering correctly.
