@TheXavierPopes: Makinde London's two most recent follows on Twitter? XU's Mike Pegues and 2014 X recruit Sean O'Mara. Both were on campus together recently.

I don't think our chances are that good but tell me if this kid does not sound like a Gregg Marshall player. A little about his basketball recruitment in that the decision is wearing on him and that he expects to make a decision soon. Article is dated 9-26. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...0,599730.story

That's precisely what I've been thinking.

Yeah, this quote from the article doesn't sound too promising for us.

"I assumed he was going to eventually concentrate on basketball, and he said no, he loves football," New said. "I said, 'What if a college basketball coach doesn't want you to play football?'

"He said, 'I won't be interested in that school.' "

Maybe I need to read it again but I don't see that quote being against us, unless we told him not to play high school football.

I wasn't alarmed seeing that none of the schools we are competing against are football powerhouses. With that in mind I don't even know how many of them even have football. Maybe the sub division but none are D1. I don't think we have a Terrell Miller issue where he will play both sports at one school but maybe he is waiting to get a football only offer. Just speculation but I would guess if that was the case he would most likely be fielding football offers as well. Got to give the kid credit for playing football and risking his basketball scholarship to be part of the team. The point in the article I liked the most was when his coach said that Sean liked physical play. Then he said Sean is a D1 tackle so maybe he is holding out waiting for a football offer.

6'9" and 250 isn't going to get much D1 attention as an offensive lineman. 6'3" and 290 can move 6'9" and 250 around at will, and there seem to be plenty of guys in the 6'3", 290 range.

O'Mara has a frame that could probably support 330 or 340 if he was to concentrate on FB only, but putting 30 - 40 pounds on him before he would have a chance in D1 line play is not going to be attractive to many D1 FB coaches.

Right now is the most stressful time for recruits, coaches, and fans. There are a lot of recruits waiting to see who commits and where they commit before they commit.

If 1 or 2 of WSU's Plan A guys commits to WSU, it could set off a domino effect resulting in 3 or 4 Plan A guys signing. If the top 1 or 2 Plan A guys go elsewhere, that will likely eliminate 1 or more other Plan A guys.

With the number of quality guys the Shox are in on, missing out on the absolute top end would not be critical. It would sting, but the next guys on the list aren't chopped liver.

I think you read it perfectly accurately. It was about a college telling him to stop playing high school football, not about playing football in college.

A whole lot of immediate playing time with an deep, experienced backcourt is calling O'Mara's name.

Hopefully, he was waiting to see what Hurt was going to do. I know Loyola fans are really wanting this kid.

Just saw a retweet from holy land hoops, looks like he has committed to Xavier.
Alex Kline has also tweeted the commitment to Xavier.
