  • Nathan Gibbs

A 6-6 PF from Desoto, Texas, class of '08. Averaging about 17 ppg this year after missing nearly all last season with a knee injury. Nebraska, WSU are seeing how he complets his senior year.

DeSoto is ranked #7 Texas 5A.

Next Tuesday's game would be a fun one to go to.

    DeSoto v Duncanville (#1 in Texas 5A)

According to HSGameTime.com, he's leading the team in points (11.5) and rebounds (6.6). Maybe not the most reliable source though, as your post says 17 ppg.

In researching all of the website, here are 4 players we need to look at:

Konner Tucker - Ft. Worth - Paschal
Willie Warren - North Crowley (6'4" Sr. Guard)

      Also:
      CJ McElrath - Grapevine
      Antwain Thomas - Terrell

(Both are mentioned, read down some)

        I thought Warren signed.

Maybe some year we will get the top player in Texas, but not this year. Warren signed with Oklahoma.

Re-reading the article, the stats I gave are for district games only.

Trop, don't you think it's odd that GM would be recruiting a 6'6" HS 4?

Its not so much how big you are, but how big you play. Falker plays bigger than 6'7, Richard Scott a few years back up the road played MUCH bigger than 6'4 1/2.

Duncanville is not only #1 in Texas but #3 in the country.

No offers for Gibbs but he will be visiting Pepperdine.

Both Gibbs and Reggie Britton will be playing in tomorrow's unsigned seniors games which is part of the Pearland Texas Classic. These games give unsigned seniors in Texas a last chance to make an impression on coaches.

We looked at SG Reggie Britton in the Fall. There hasn't been further updates. Because of us signing Murry and Kyles, It's safe to assume we are not looking at him any longer.

Nathan Gibbs might be another matter. If a WSU coach drops in on these games, it would be for him.

To cover the other players Snapshot9 mentioned:

Konner Tucker went the junior college route and signed with Lon Morris College:

                        CJ McElrath committed to Army:

Antwain Thomas fills up a stat sheet. He was third in the nation among high school players in 3-pointers made with 148 this past season. He once scored 61 points in an playoff game against Paris, including 16 of 25 from behind the arc. Two area newspapers named him the offensive player of the year for his district. Still, I couldn't find a single story or site that mentioned his recruiting status.

Gibbs showed well in a recent west coast camp. He was listed at 6-7 and sounds like a strong athletic inside player. He will be a 5th year player this coming year and we will need to keep track of him.

Not about Nathan Gibbs himself, obviously (from trop's April 25 update above), but isn't it interesting how things worked out with Britton?
