And, of course, to add still another sport to the analogy, you miss every shot you don't take. Still sounds like exceptionally tough competition on this one -- in addition to which the Shocks may only have two seniors to replace that year (although it's way too early to know for sure).

It's not that I don't think we should be aiming for players of this caliber. I love that we are. I'm just saying this is going to be the next guy we all get up for, including me.

The best part is he has no connection, or obligation, you could say, to Wichita State (ala Ellis, A. Wiggins), yet we're still on his radar. I'd like to see what Forbes does here.

It may not be PJ, but boys, we're very close to landing one of these guys.

I'm not holding my breath. I don't doubt our staff but this kid has some really good options available to him.

                          Bump.

                          Any updates on this kid?

With our recent success, I wouldn't say we are out of the running.

Call me Captain Obvious. One of the problems as I see it is that once these kids start being recruited and offered by the so-called "high major" schools, it's a tougher road simply because you know these high major coaches are reminding all recruits that are considering WSU that Marshall is such a hot commodity now that he might not be here for that recruit's full tenure. Everyone knows that Marshall has turned down high major offers to stay here and seems quite happy but if the RIGHT offer comes along you just don't know.

I don't think Marshall has lost many offered recruits to high majors. He does look into higher profile recruits, checks out their interest, and goes on. As WSU's program continues to evolve, some of these recruits will take more interest and offers may be made. So, the longer Marshall stays, the more likely higher recruits will be offered as well as our likelihood of landing them.

If you look at the 2014 class of players offered, you will see most end up going to middle or lower major schools or other non-Big 5 schools. Marshall has no disadvantage among this group. A coach among these schools who mentions to a recruit that Marshall is likely to move on is in the same boat if successful, plus, if he's not successful, he may be out the door before a new recruit's 4 years are up.
