  • Elijah Elliott 6'1 PG UTRGV Transfer

One year of eligibility left. UTRGV was my man crush continues! on KenPom. Ranked sixth on his team in offensive BPM (-1.9) and last for defensive BPM (-2.2). This one doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Maybe the coaching staff has connections with him being from Houston.

He has my attention. Played in high school at Houston Yates. More on Elliot.

HOUSTON (April 27, 2020) – Elijah Elliott, a key member of a Houston high school basketball team that set a national record for consecutive 100-point games, has signed to play collegiately at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Kendre Talley said Monday.

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men's Basketball Head Coach Matt Figger announced on Tuesday the signing of 6-1 guard Elijah Elliott, who is coming off an All-American season at Blinn College and has previous Division I experience, for the 2023-24 season.

23% from 3. We need shooting.

Skills we seek in a guard recruit should be simple in the following order of ranking. Elliot wasn’t that good.
        1. Low turnovers
        2. Quickness and Speed
        3. Passing/Assists
        4. 3 Point Shooting

Our guards this year weren’t high in these areas either.

I don’t get it. This is not the move.

I'd rather run with Pipkin as the 2nd PG than bring in this guy. More upside.

Sorry but we need impact guards who can create perimeter pressure. He’s not that. Last thing we need is another guard who can’t make a 3, especially now.

I wonder why we contacted him?

The coaches investigate a lot of players. That doesn’t indicate serious recruitment.
