I think it's common and has been for awhile. It's just that now those athletes can publicize that info via social media.

That's true but more info is given on Twitter by media recruiting gurus than what use to take place when they were restricted to the occasional full article.

Whitt recently received his first offer courtesy of Wichita State and has fielded attention from Kansas, Creighton, Arkansas, Missouri State and Tulsa. Surprisingly, Whitt says that he's not really heard much from hometown Missouri.
