  • David Jones 6'6 F St John's Transfer

Verbal commits says he is a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining (possibly two).

He would be a solid addition. Shooting numbers are a little mediocre but he's a great rebounder and strong defender.

He has only played three seasons, including 2021 which was a freebie, so he should have two years remaining. Probably graduating early which means he can transfer for free.

Once you factor in the -10% movement in shooting percentages the moment they put on a Shocker uniform ... man we are gonna have a rough shooting team lol

Dexter Dennis seems to be the poster child for this effect. When he was here, he wasn't guarded because he wasn't a scoring threat. At aTm, he was a ~40% 3FG shooter, and he's been at that level in NBA tryouts. That happens when 100% of practice time is devoted to defense. That would seem to also have contributed to Pohto's inability to hit a 3 after he won the 3 point shooting contest as a Fr.

There is more to it than that.

As strength increases, you have to adjust your shot. As the game slows down, you understand getting in better position to be prepared to shoot. As you get more confidence, you rise better and are less impacted by others.

Of course everyone who leaves shoots better than they did as a Fr/So. But the guys who stay tend to shoot better also.
