I can't definitively speak for anyone else, but my issue with this thread has nothing to do with my opinion of Kiwi Gardner (I don't particularly have an opinion of him), rather my problem is that this player has absolutely no connection to WSU other than in the imagination of @mumdaddy316:. There are countless talented players out there that WSU has never and will never be involved in recruiting, but we don't have threads on them because this is a WSU recruiting forum, not a "random guy whose youtube highlights I like" forum.

If there were any reason to connect Gardner to WSU, I would have no problem with this thread. I also would not have a problem with a Kiwi Gardner thread on a non-WSU section of the website (say "Around the NCAA" or "Off-Topic"). But this thread has given the appearance that there is some connection between WSU and Gardner when absolutely none exists.

I can find 1000 clips of 1000 guys playing in junk exhibition games with NBA talents. None of it translates to a Division 1 quality point guard. If YouTube sensation equaled can't miss player then Jacob Tucker would be a perennial all-star. I trust our coaches have done their homework and I'm sure there is a reason they never recruited this guy. The video shows me nothing that makes me want the guy. His act wouldn't play with Marshall anyway.

My 2 cents on this subject is that the only truly accurate information we get is when they sign. Until then it is 2nd/3rd/12th person, and most often well outdated.

If we don't have a truly accurate list of who we ARE recruiting, how do we dismiss someone as someone we are not?

I can name 4 recriuits for 2012 never mentioned by TropicalShox(who, btw, does an AMAZING job staying up to date with our recruiting). Not that he missed them, but because the recruit never mentioned publically thier visit to or from WSU. These 4 were offered, and we were in their top 3 when they decided.

I'm sure there are more that I don't know about.

You say that you know of 4 guys who we recruited in 2012 not mentioned on this board. Why weren't they mentioned? Because they had nothing that publicly connected them to WSU. Guess what? There are THOUSANDS of players that have nothing publically connecting them to WSU, because the vast majority of players without a public connection are that way because they have no connection to WSU. So are we supposed to start a thread for every one of the thousands of high school prospects in the nation because it is possible that there is an unknown recruitment by WSU going on? The reason it makes sense to focus only on those where there is evidence of some connection (media report, coaches watching a player's high school or AAU team, etc.) is not because it will result in a list of every person the school is recruiting, but because there is no other way to reasonably narrow down a list of thousands to a set of players that WSU fans should have some reason to follow.

Which is exactly why you dont see me post hardly anything about recruiting. Whats the point without a public story to verify.
