I would trust Jans ability to evaluate talent. Good pick up.

Wouldn't "average" college players go to disappear in all better than average programs?

WSU has been in one of its best eras in the 2000's. Made 15 NCAA/NIT appearances (9/6). Miss St has made 14 NCAA/NIT appearances (7/7).

Guessing a lot of "good to very good" college programs would get blown out by Kentucky twice a year. Miss St lost at KY by 8 last year in their one meeting. Previous year they lost in overtime, however, beat KY in the conference tourney. Year before that, they lost by 21 @ KY, but only by 4 at home. They fired their coach in hopes they have hired a better one.

it's an anecdote, but I'm not surprised to see someone pull up the records to verify my post. Not that I want this guy, I just get frustrated when I see all these recruits of ours sign with middle of road SEC, ACC, Big 12, whatever. These teams are bad more than they are good and we struggle to compete with them on the recruiting front even when we are at our best and going to the NCAAs every year. They want to play against Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, whoever, pick a school in the conference. They don't care if they win or lose, they all think they will get more exposure at these crappy programs, and they are probably right. It's a battle we will forever face.

So they should pick a bad team in the AAC instead? And I doubt Miss. State under Jans is going to be dog ****. Their immediate future looks a hell of a lot better than ours.

Actually, I looked it up to see just what kind of swamp Jans got himself into. I was surprised they had done as well as they did. Not sure I'd call these programs "crappy". In general, they should have better coaching staffs and resources. Also, like Miss St, they do what they do in the SEC, not the MVC or AAC. If you want to talk crappy programs, look at the bottom of those conferences. Oh wait, that might be us right now!
