  • Jaykwon Walton - 6'7" Forward - Shelton State CC Class of 2022 is a Shocker!

Shox have offered this 6'7" 195 LB Wing out of Shelton State in Alabama. Walton is intriguing to say the least. Combo guard ranked as the #2 juco prospect by 247 sports. Averaged 12.9 ppg / 4.2 rpg / 2.8 apg for Shelton last season. 47% from the field and 36% from three. Committed to Mississippi state out of high school before flipping to Georgia. Looks like he played 19-20 and two games in 20-21 for Georgia before transferring to juco. Signed with Mississippi state again this past November only to decommit April 14th following the coaching change.

Other offers include Ark Little Rock, K-State, Western Kentucky, LSU, and Charlotte.

Do we know how many years of eligibility he will have left? Two?

I believe three, but not sure my math is correct.

Two makes sense by my math.

Played in 19-20, 20-21 and 21-22 with the Covid pass that would be two left.

Feel free to check my math.

But only played in two games in 20-21 so not sure how that factors in. I really don't know...

Can you get a non-injury RS after playing in games?

Good question. Isn't there some relatively new football rule about playing in a limited number of games or plays and still redshirting? Almost certain it doesn't even matter when. If accurate, I'm not sure why other sports don't get the same consideration.

That entered my head but I don't follow college football that closely so I wasn't sure. Also wouldn't be surprised if football gets some sort of special treatment.

I don't think basketball has the same rule as football - which is crazy considering football only plays 12 games. In CFB you can play up to 4 games.

I would guess yes. I mean I just saw a guy with a cart full of items walk right through the Home Depot security guy not paying on his way to his car. Seems like anything goes these days so I would assume players can get as many years as they want.

The more I see the more I like this kid as a RCIV-esque player and I think he can fill that hole nicely.
