Is it? Not from what I am hearing. Agents (who with attorneys are the ones driving this) gotta get paid. Everyone following the path Mino Raiola left.

Yes, it is. I'm saying the magnitude of the dollars being thrown around is inflated, not the "protocol" or whatever you want to call it.

A top mid-major guy, with a probability of two years (no transfer exception next year) is going for $250k/yr. Due to COVID these guys have 3 years. That’s $750k. Get in a bidding war and that number goes up.

The agents want money up front to facilitate the deals with the collectives, plus a percentage of the deal.

But the question is, are they paying the appropriate taxes? This isn’t your regular type income. I know of a couple players planning on getting less that 30% of the number after bills, agent fees, agent commission, accountant, taxes, etc.

          • I’m not buying that there’s that many schools willing to shell out $250k per player. Let’s say you’re UNC or Duke. You don’t have to play kids to come there (at least now). Maybe you pay the major players but you don’t pay guys like Ricky Council $250k only to create turmoil amongst the returning players. So what kind of school is throwing $250k at Ricky? Miami is a good example, they have a billionaire trying to help them buy a team. There’s not a lot of Miamis out there. Maybe I’m being naive but I’d like to know who is really throwing out this kind of money.

            • Miami, Chicago State, UCONN, Tennessee State to name some that are public and easily searchable.

Keep in mind, these are collectives making these deals.

Michigan just got a commitment from a transfer sg from Princeton which I’m guessing didn’t sit well with Collins. Terrible three point and ft percentage last season but limited time I suppose.

Walton is intriguing to say the least. 6’6” combo guard ranked as the #2 juco prospect by 247 sports. Averaged 12.9 ppg / 4.2 rpg / 2.8 apg for Shelton last season. 47% from the field and 36% from three. Committed to Mississippi state out of high school before flipping to Georgia. Looks like he played 19-20 and two games in 20-21 for Georgia before transferring to juco. Signed with Mississippi state again this past November only to decommit April 14th following the coaching change.

Long is a 6’5” guard originally from houston and has played two years at seton hall. Averaged 1 ppg / 0.7 rpg / 0.7 apg in his two years. Offered by WSU out of high school. Not stoked about this one.

                    • Long is a PG, which we need. Only played 5 games before a season ending injury. I would not consider his college stats to mean anything.
