If you ask me "How good is your basketball team, I will answer, just how good is your quarterback? That is where it starts." In our case, next Season, we will be very stong at the point guard position. Great news for Fred and we are happy for him. There are oodles of basketball players in the great State of Illinois. What an honor!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

            My favorite part:

"In the first ever Illinois Mr. Basketball presented by HardHoopsNews.Com many considered Jabari Parker to be the winner. It was a total different story than what many may have thought. Parker being the #1 player in America regardless of class is what you would have thought to win didn’t. Fred Vanvleet was featured earlier this year on the site ended up winning the public poll with more than 350 thousand votes."

Me? What I did do was make sure to tell everyone I know and made sure they told all their friends. That's one vote per Wichitian! Wichita loves their Shox!

I don't get the talk of FVV RS next year. If a player is in contention for Mr. Illinois and all the accolades he seems to be getting from all fronts, why wouldn't he be a contender to play (and play alot) right off the bat next year?

Because of Armstead, DWill and Cotton. Some of them can play SG, but you also have Baker and Wessel. A RS is a possibility. Nobody is saying it's certain.

I don't think you RS a borderline 4 star recruit unless he wants to be redshirted.

VanVleet appears to be a smart kid. If Marshall goes to him and says, "Fred, we have so many guards worthy of PT, including two seniors. I can play you, but you may only get five minutes a game. That would be such a waste of a year of eligibility. What would you say to getting an extra year to improve your chances of playing at the next level? And an extra year of scholarship to finish your degree?" I don't see Fred turning that offer down.

I would not turn it down, but I think the majority of 19-year-old kids would. I agree with the concept, though.
