Geron Johnson -- JC combo guard, 2012

Per the Dayton Daily News, tonight the Shockers will be going to see Geron Johnson, a 6-3 combo guard from Dayton, OH, (Dunbar High) who now plays for Garden City CC.

Johnson has a troubled past, and was kicked out of Chipola, his first juco stop, after being jailed on a drug charge.

Others looking in are KU, Memphis, Pittsburg, Nebraska and Dayton -- but I have to say: I'll be OK if we miss on this one.

He was a top 100 recruit for the 2010 class. Dayton has continued to recruit him since leaving Dunbar. The other teammate at Chipola who shared legal problems with Johnson, Elijah Pittman, will be playing for Marshall University next season.

During Geron's senior year in high school, a young freshman was brought up from the junior varsity to give more height to the team. Today that teammate of Geron, Teddy Hawkins, became a Shocker!

I would have to give kansas a step ahead in the recruiting of this young man since he won't notice much of a change in the quality of air from garden city to larryville. It will seem like home away from home.

Johnson will be discussing KU with his mother. If he doesn't commit to the Jayhawks, he will more than likely take visits to Oklahoma State and Memphis.

Johnson has been dismissed from Garden City Community College. It's very doubtful he will qualify since he is not attending classes. It appears Johnson had another legal problem.
