South View basketball welcomes Greg Heiar assistant coach for the 2011 NIT Champions Wichita State Shockers to workouts tonight. GO TIGERS!"

South View has a couple of junior guards who Greg might be watching, Rain Holland and Dominique Wiggins. 6-6 junior, Treshawn Patterson is another who might have his interest.

These young men had good years, especially Rian Holland.

Here are a couple of links:

I have always wondered if this camps had a dual purpose, 1)To help kids with the there skills and future development, and 2)to have recruits who are have the Shocks at the top of their list to come in and see what its like. Just was always curious.

Yes they do. Just off the top of my head, Manigualt and Hamilton attended the camp as did Adam Hasty who briefly walked on the team this year. Marlon Johnson attended last year. He's got to go juco, but watch for him in a couple of years as we continue to have interest.

This camp is mostly about recruiting. There are other camps where they'll work on skills with anybody who pays, but I believe this one is invitation only. They'll have a number of "local" types that they have their eyes on to see if they progress and then the get as many as they can from all over as well. I remember Austin Chatman really impressing a couple years back.

Henry Uwadiae was here last year.

If you're in the area the day they host it, stop by The Roundhouse. It's a good time.

Sub, I think it's both. Most of the guys don't have a shot at being a Shocker. That's pretty much like all elite camps. Just because a player is invited doesn't equal a serious look for a scholarship. And then there usually are the few who have a shot at being offered.

I know. And yes, most have very little shot at an offer. They need bodies to compete. I think some are casually watched and they keep up with just in case. I've seen some solid kids at the camp that end up at low level D1 or D2 schools. Mostly because they're just not quite big enough or not quite agile enough. But have nice games all around.

And it's absolutely free to show up. I think you can usually find 50 or more people who just stand against the walls or sit in the seats and watch. I've done that. I've also officiated it a few times. And if you're lucky, you may run into a couple of SN posters like Doc.

It's fun to go watch and pick up on who is the real deal. I try to get my hands on a roster when I can. Put names with faces. But that's not always an option.

There is no cover and it's fairly open. That being said, REMEMBER that we are all boosters. Contact is forbidden. Go and watch, but keep to yourself unless you have a prior relationship with said person you are approaching. These are not exhibitions for our entertainment. People are working.
