  • Year in and year out, we see Duke, N.C. Kentucky, KU, Louisville, etc. land in the top 10 in recruiting ratings. While I remember we did this a handful of times back in the Carr and X-Man era, it is not common these days. Even so, last Season, we made the Final 4 and this is a History making type time this very Season no matter what happens from here. In terms of recruiting, how could this be? Coach Marshall and his awesome Staff are way 'above the curve' in terms of recruiting players that truly fit our System, but yet are slightly under the radar on the 'pecking order' of the top recruiting hot-sheets.

For example, look at our starting line up. We have Baker whom had no D-1 offers I am aware of. We have Cotton who is a Shocker prototype defense specialist but was not on any top 100 lists. Did you see that that dunk last game? WOW!!!!!!! We have Cle who was a 'Division 3 Juco star' but has a great shot at playing in the NBA some fine day. We have Chadrack from a Juco here in Kansas that has stepped up this Season to be our starting Center. Last but not least is FVV whom a KU huge fan just told me he wish they had on their team as their point guard. FVV was maybe the first top 100 recruit in the Marshall Plan, but not the last. I also have a former K-State fan convert pal that now loves our beloved Shocks who have catapulted into National prominence.

What does it all mean? We lose Cle next Season and that will leave a mark. Also, we lose Chadrack. While he has not started every game, he is finding his niche. We also lose Kadeem. Mark this down. Kadeem is a playa and he Will enter our memory banks and make some very key contributions before this Season is over. Enter Carter who has also started some games and is a key off the bench. Wessel is another asset that I will take on my team no matter what the experts say. You can't measure the heart, hard work, or how well a player like Wessel finds ways to help his team win. If you don't believe that, ask his high school football and basketball team that Evan was a key in their State Championships his Senior year. Derail Green is receiving a fair shake as all Shockers do, and is coming along just fine. He is one of our best shooters and the Season is far from over. Mr. Nick Wiggins is one of my personal favorite players. Look for him to do his part to make this another Season to remember.

One other 'trick of the trade' that Marshall utilizes to the max. in this successful reign is his redshirt program. Mr. Holland is a "lights out" shooter and Shaquille is learning the ropes along with his teammates on playing inside in preparation for next Season. So what about us losing Cle? As 3G indicated on a Coaches show, this will be done by committee. I truly really like our incoming recruiting class for next Season. Please excuse me for being greedy, but I still hope a slot opens up for Willie Atwood. I really think we could use him if a spot was to open up.

Now let me try to put the final touches on this post. Shocker basketball has reached new and improved heights. Right now, every time we play, records keep getting broken with each and every win. When was the last time this happened? Dunno, but I like it. I like it a lot!!!!!!! Sleep well tonight Shocker fans. We have much to be thankful for because even through the hard times leading to the "here and now", Shocker Basketball is,and will always be, my favorite team in all of sports and the best is yet to come. Gotta go for now because we have a road game to win tonight versus Drake and the Pregame Show just came on.

If a spot opens up for Willie Atwood, since there are no spots open, what current Shocker is out? We are currently loaded in the 6'6' to 6'8' forward department for next year:

      Darius Carter
      Shaq Morris
      Derail Green
      Zach Brown
      Eric Hamilton
      Rashard Kelly

Add Willie Atwood, and that makes it quite a logjam...and Atwood will play b/c he only has 2 years. So which player is gone? Ri'an Holland? (I don't think so) Shaq Morris? (I don't think so) Derail Green? (I don't think so). Perhaps Eric Hamilton backs out of his commitment?

No reason to speculate, because you aren't going to find an answer. Of the six you lost, 2 are wing forwards (Brown and Green), two are post forwards (Carter and Morris), and the other two are stretch forwards, as is Atwood. Wamakota is a center. As to newbies not coming, Kelly and Hamilton have posted recently on Twitter about WSU. Brown is as excited as anyone I've ever heard of. It is possible that someone could have academic concerns.

          • Zach Brown is a 1-2-3, never a 4 or 5.

If Atwood chooses here, there will be room. That's all you need to worry about.

Well, Zach is a 2/3, and although he is playing point at Sunrise, he's not a 1.

No not as his primary position but he will get some reps as the 1 here. Book it.

                  +1, shoxlax

Nailed it in a nutshell. No need for further speculation; end of discussion.

So if everyone decides to stay, then someone pays their own way so Atwood can have a scholarship.

                      • This is not new territory. In the fall of 2013 Watson was ineligible and White left. The year before, Mitchell left when he didn't "earn" a scholie, and Coleby walked on…also, the tall African kid was ineligible as well.

More premature ejac -- uh, speculation, 1979. None of us knows how it will work out -- but if it has to, it will. It always does. That's why it's a waste of time, energy, and bandwidth even trying to guess.

One of the many reasons fan boards were designed to do. Lighten up Francis.

                            • For what it's worth, tonight on the coaches show Gregg said that Derail and Shaq need to keep working because Cle and CJ and Kadeem are all going to graduate and their time will come next year.
