Anybody have stats on Derail? I'm excited he's a Shocker, but it's kind of a bummer what this info also means.

"Derail Green - One player for Franchize who isn't getting a lot of respect is Green. The big man is flying a bit under the radar, but his stock has to be rising with his play so far in July. The 2012 power forward is pushing 6-foot-8 with long arms and a good amount of athleticism. He is still figuring out just how good he is, but one could argue that Green played highly touted 2011 prospect Angelo Chol to a draw in their matchup on Monday. Improving his strength will be important, but Green has made great strides with his game since the start of the spring."
The above was a report during the summer of 2010. Angelo Chol is at Arizona this year.In the fast lane

I finally watched the videos linked on the first page. Green is an intriguing player.
- Active player. I didn't see any laziness in those clips.
- Seems to have the offensive skills of a SF. Can handle the ball, take it to the rim and shoot the three.
- Defensively looks more like a PF. Blocks shots. Looks to me like he lacks a quick enough first step to guard most small-forwards.
Ultimately, probably a small forward. With the depth we'll have at the forward spots next year (Hall, Anacreon, White, Early, Egharevba and possibly Wessel - am I forgetting anyone?) I suspect a redshirt will be in order.

VYPE Recruit Scoop -- Wichita State Gets Verbal from Top Houstonian
“Toure is like Elvis in Wichita,” assistant coach Lance Alexander said. “Derail looks up to him and I think that played a part in him committing to WSU.

If he grows or not, it looks like he'll be a CF. If he really does have a jump shot and can handle the ball, he could definitely see time on the wing. Also sounds like he'll have to bulk up quite a bit if he's going to spend much time banging down low.
Either way, I like the size and athleticism 3G is bringing into Wichita.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Regardless of the 2:45 PM circus, HCGM and his crew (on paper) have reeled in some serious talent. Say what you will about him, he can really go after and haul in major league athletic specimens.
It's almost like the Geno days back in the late 70's early 80's.
One item that is slightly disappointing - after the Elvis comparison comment from the Klein Forest Coach, I am a bit surprised some of our more tech savvy posters have not capitalized on the Elvis/Toure comment.
I'm thinking along the lines of a photo shop deal with a Toure head on an Elvis body.
Then again, based on Elvis' physique just before his departure, it might not be such a good idea after all. 8)Above all, make the right call.

"...the Shockers will have the longest running streak of non Texas D1 schools with a Houston kid on roster. Since the program basically stole Randy Burns (Washington HS 2002) right from under the noses of everyone, Wichita State has a current streak of 10 consecutive seasons boasting Greater Houston talent. Other Houstonians who have kept the candle burning are, PJ Cousinard (Yates 2003), Karon Bradley (Cy Springs via Marquette transfer). Wendell Preadom (Westbury Chr 2005), Currently, senior guard Toure Murry (Klein Forest 2008) is big man on campus. If all goes well, Green could push that streak to 14 years."
