"From April to July Byford is the most improved player in the state. Byford has become an aggressive shot blocker and offensive mis-match for Next Level in recent weeks. He has range out to the three point line and has displayed quicker hops off the floor on the offensive glass. The Velma-Alma product will also dunk on you if you’re not careful and do his best to put you on a poster. He picked up his first D-1 offer following a strong performance at the Great American Shootout. If recent weeks is any indication, it won’t be his last."

Byford's offers are now from ORU, South Dakota and Buffalo and interest in him is picking up. A correspondent from Oklahoma thinks the Shockers are close to offering.

"Early on during the spring circuit the small school star struggled. One factor in that could’ve been due to tired legs because of high school track and field commitments. Whatever it was that was slowing down Byford, it feels like ancient history after seeing the improvement that has taken place.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, Byford started flashing the versatility and dominance to become a Division One basketball player. He solidified that in July as he caught the eyes of college coaches all month long.

Byford has the ability to post up or take players off the dribble to the rim or hit the mid range jumper. Also if the opposing defender isn’t careful, Byford will do his best to put him on a poster or at least on youtube.

The small school standout entered July with no offers but now holds offers from Buffalo, Oral Roberts and South Dakota St, along with interest from the likes of Appalachian St, New Mexico, Tulsa and Wichita St.

A big reason for his increased recruitment, the night and day like improvement Byford has shown since March."

Byford makes a big jump in this ranking of 2012 players from Oklahoma.

"4. Corbin Byford, 6’7 Combo Forward, Velma-Alma: Last Ranking: 13th
Byford is the biggest matchup problem in Oklahoma as he can take slower players off the dribble or post up smaller players. He is an athletic and skilled combo forward. He also never backs down as he is willing to attack and protect the hoop. The biggest thing holding Byford back is he is in-between positions in regards to the next level since he isn’t a true small forward or true power forward.
              Strengths: Skilled, aggressive and athletic
              Weaknesses: Stuck in between positions"

10/2 update- Visiting Lafayette. Looks like its between Lafayette and ORU. He is leaning to ORU.

              10/22 Update- Verbal to ORU.

Also in this article is mention of James Woodard, De'Andre Wright and Jake Bullard, all of whom we have threads. Woodard has moved to #2, De'Andre Wright is #3 and Bullard has dropped to #10.
