Well, KC11, Marshall (coach, that is) and his staff obviously thought at one point he was worth a shot as well, and I trust their judgment. Still, not all 6-11s are created equal. There's the 6-11, 250 hulk, and then there's Henry the Beanpole. The beanpole may indeed be worth the shot, and I guess it would be interesting to know if WSU still feels the same way about Henry at this point. But if you can somehow land a hulk instead, he's probably a better gamble.
What I think this means is that we're no longer at a point where it makes sense to recruit a project along the lines of Orupke and Uwadiae. When you can go after and get Carl Hall, Darius Carter, Shaquille Morris and hopefully, Stephen Hurt, there's no reason to spend 3-4 years of a scholarship hoping to get one good year out of a guy.
I'm not going to say that we're beyond taking a chance on a big man from time to time, but I'm not sure this would be the year to do it as post depth for next season could be a big question mark with only two returning post players. In a time when we're fairly well stocked at all positions, I could see taking a chance on a guy with a lot of upside even if it'll take a couple of years to get there. Hell, we're recruiting Hurt and he was by no means considered a sure thing coming out of HS. That's why he ended up where he did before transferring to NWF.
Henry Uwadiae from Kirkwood CC has been granted his release from Marshall, per a source
Why would he need a "release"? The LOI is only good for one year. He is/was under no obligation to WSU.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."

So, im4 -- were you thinking Henry signed with Gregg Marshall personally, rather than the school or with Marshall University? 3G is getting to be quite the big shot, but he isn't quite that big yet.
