I think we would move from a probable pre-season top 3 choice to the favorite once again.

I understand AndShock and the "higher road" philosophy. My preferred path as well. However, many top 20 schools always seem to find a well placed position for a parent or coach which coincides with the signing of a player. We are just playing by the rules now set forth in front of us.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I assume it is a reference to not liking taking players with you that are committed to a school.

There is nothing to dislike about DeWitt, but coaches taking players with them to the school they go to is certainly a gray area (not definitively wrong since players ought to have some ability to play for the coach they developed a relationship, but not without ethical issues).
Exactly. If DeWitt does indeed come here I also can't help but think that's a huge reason why Heiar was hired in the first place, which I wouldn't be crazy about either.
Haiar was qualified already. It is Dewitt's choice to follow or not and this is NCAA basketball in today's world. We are playing by the rules and not doing anything other schools aren't doing. We are just staying competitive. I see nothing wrong with it as long as we stay within the NCAA rules.

Carl Hall and Dewitt are on another level, great watching them go at it.

Maybe the unwritten rules have changed and it's now a matter of covet thy assistants? That would actually make more sense in the long term.

It's not like Heiar doesn't qualify for the job without bringing Dewitt. He has been an assistant for 2 years at an up and coming program from the CUSA that went 22-10 this season, has great recruiting ties, and has a previous relationship with Coach Jans. Not to mention his coaching record of 164-15 while at Chipola. I see no basis in your argument.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

At 6'10 couldn't he be a contender at the 4?

I'm trying not to get too excited about this. This is by no means a done deal. Don't know if there's precedent for releasing a kid because the assistant leaves. They could just say no.

Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

We would be deep, deeeeep, deeeeeep. Four upperclassmen rotating at the big man positions. Sound familiar.

IF (and it's still a big if) Dewitt comes, without substantial improvement, GS and EO will most likely move down the pecking order. Hall and Dewitt can both handle DI duties at the 5.

I would argue his obvious relationship with Chris Jans is why he was hired. USM fans seem to be impressed with Heiar from his time there. Tell me who exactly was the amazingly qualified candidate you think the shockers should have hired for what is essentially the no.4 coach on the staff?

I think Dewitt or not, this was a good hire.

I never said he wasn't qualified or wouldn't be a decent hire without DeWitt, but just because he is qualified doesn't mean it wasn't a package deal. The "basis" in my argument is pretty obvious.

I completely understand that stealing DeWitt isn't against NCAA rules, but that doesn't affect what I think about it. If my job and millions of dollars were on the line, I'd probably think differently. Just because it's allowed doesn't mean it's not a douche move.

Nice find, Hall is an absolute beast on the offensive boards and as energetic as you'll find, a prototypical Marshall player, he plays hard. Dewitt plays well at both ends and has amazing athletic ability.

                              7'0", 7'0", 6'10", 6'8", 6'8" - that's not bad height for a front court rotation.

I expect DeWitt will be a Shocker. His connections to Heiar go back over 2 years. The Chipola connection makes this a fairly solid situation.

                                I am with AndShock then.

My only complaint about Coach Turgeon was the what's his name deal - the big guy from Virginia. Denzel Bowles, maybe?

I still think it is a possibility that AD Schaus gave his blessing because it seemed so out of character for Coach Turgeon take a Shocker recruit with him.
