  • Alex Caruso to Texas A&M

A combo guard I've seen listed from 6-4 to 6-6 from College Station, Texas (A&M Consolidated). His dad is an associate AD at Texas A&M. He is ranked number 64 for 2012 by TexasHoops but has a good chance to move up due to his hot start on the AAU circuit. He plays for Texas D-1 Ambassadors who also has Jonathan Motley who WSU is recruiting.

Caruso has an offer from Sam Houston State and interest from the Shockers, UTEP, Texas-Arlington and Northern Colorado.

No interest from A&M?? That's strange.

"Quick Take: The buzz began during his first game at camp and it picked up as Pangos wore on. His right-handed dunk through traffic was a statement, but he showed off so much more. It’s clear he knows the game, has a high IQ and is a terrific passer. The 6-foot-6 wing made his way into the top 25 all-star game and certainly made an impression on the scouts in attendance.

Recruiting: Texas A&M, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, Richmond, Sam Houston State, Texas-Arlington, The Citadel, USC, Wichita State."

Alex Caruso came up big at the Pangos All-American Camp and is seeing his stock soar because of it, writes Dave Telep.

Perhaps DoubleJay wanted us to note, "Caruso is the son of Mike Caruso, a former Creighton player..."

He has his dream offer from Texas A&M but he did take an unofficial to Creighton on Monday.

It's probably past time to write Alex off. He names Colorado and Arizona State as two other schools he likes besides his offers from A&M and Creighton.

I hope we haven't shot ourselves in the foot with Texas. Who's our primary recruiter down there? Seems our recruiting talents may be more focused on the SE and upper midwest.

Maybe that has nothing to do with this kid, but I'm afraid we're going to see our name next to fewer Texas kids.
