I'll bump this up since there is some continued interest about Aaron. Four of his up to five official visits are accounted for: Marquette, South Alabama, Chattanooga and South Florida. He doesn't know if he will sign in November or wait until the Spring.

I'll wonder if this is one that got away for awhile. Especially considering the need for bigs in the next year or two. I know we have Henry, who's a bit of a project, but I think Durley would have had less of a learning curve when adjusting to D1 ball. Maybe he's not mobile enough for what 3G wants... Time will tell.

It does me. When's the last time he's played against real competition? Didn't he sit out last year? And I don't recall much being said about his game over the summer.

Yes, I'm surprised MU offered. I'm not surprised Aaron took the offer. MU has some others from the Houston area and they were the highest profile team to offer. However IMO he should of waited until Spring to see what level would be the best fit for him.

I think we passed on Durley because he likes cheeseburgers too much (I once heard Randy Galloway use that expression to describe Stanley Roberts, who was an NBA Center).

Durley is big, he's not mobile. Good fit for a pound-it-in team. I don't think HCGM wants a pound-it-in center. Plus, Uwadwie graded out a little higher.

I too, am somewhat dissapointed Durley isn't playing, he attends school very close to where I live. I was looking forward to watching him.

But I see the people Marshall's recruiting and he isn't really going for plodders and a set offense. Durley doesn't really fit the system he's trying to build. That plus, as several others pointed out, didn't really have a breakout summer.

I do wish Aaron the best of luck in his future endeavors and I hope he lights it up at Marquette.

My comment on Durley caused me to remember another story.....
After Dreiling transferred to Kansas, and during his senior year, they were interviewing the coach (was it Ted?!?). They talked in the Topeka CJ about how the Jayhawks were being pinned on Dreiling and how much quicker and stronger he was they said 'Greg is working real hard on getting his mile time down under 7 minutes', whereupon one of my K-State fan co-workers quipped 'now if they can only make the court a mile long.....'

Far from having a breakout summer, the word is he didn't play very well.

Durley will not be at Marquette next year although the family at least says they are still in Aaron's plans. He will take a juco year as a qualifier. The decision appears based upon needed court time to be effective at the D-1 level. In Aaron's first four games this year he was not on the court much but did recieve more playing time in his last game.

                          Aaron is now 6-10.

Without the follow through this year on his LOI to Marquette, he would be open to signing with another school next year.

Interesting. And I can't say that it's a bad plan. Sounds like they're aware that he needs more court time to develop more and that he may not get that as a FR. However, there could also be something said about going to Marquette and redshirting and developing in practice. Not quite the same, but at least you're in the system that you'll be playing in and have a headstart when the time comes.

I don't have access to rcs sports. What was the reason for Aaron not recieving much court time.....injury? Doesn't sound right that a senior, offered and signed by Marquette, not playing a lot. Sounds like Marquette may have wanted him to red shirt next year and he didn't.

The article doesn't really say but I'm sure it's because he isn't playing well. No minutes in one game, one minute in another. When he did get some minutes, they say it was an improvement. Marquette has been recruiting him for a long time. I was surprised Marquette offered. I believe they knew he is a project and would go juco when he signed the LOI. IMO all that was to perhaps get him in the future if he develops. In the article, Aaron's mother says Marquette is fine with the decision.
