Should be over tomorrow afternoon. For recruiting guessing, this is as much of a sure thing as it gets.

You're really that confident? I have a good feeling, but doesn't seem to quite equal yours.

Go to 5:50 mark and start there, semi final and final of 3A champ game. He is number 23.

Curly hair and all this kid reminds me of an inch and a half shorter Wessel with a much better outside shot.

More confident than I've ever been about getting a recruit. Perhaps the same as I was for Evan, but that was without an announcement date pending.

It just way to much coincidence for this not to happen.

That's not a bad deal at all if he does in fact pan out. I love young players and we're building the future the right way. I love it. LOVE IT!

Found this on the UALR forum, they really wanted Baker.

"Ron Baker scouting report from a recruiting service
Three sport athlete with very good athleticism. Strong, lean, and very long frame. 6’7” wing span with very big hands. Has a very good ball IQ. Solid handle, good vision and plays with good rhythm and tempo. Shooter! Can hit shots from all over the floor, is good spotting up, coming off screens or off the dribble. Can get to the rim and finish with either hand. Very good in transition and exciting in the open court. Long arms and athletic ability allow him to guard all three wing players. Gets hands on a lot of balls. Very tough and competitive. Very coachable, great teammate. Level of Placement: MM (view full-length game film)"

After watching his 7+ minute highlight reel on youtube covering 4 or 5 games; I'm impressed.

He seems fast. The best part of his game to me is that while going full speed he can change directions quickly and easily. He's weaving in and out of everywhere! He's good. I guess that should be obvious though since he just committed to us.

I'm excited about this signing. I thought that Baker might be a "best available" to fill out the last spring scholarship and I wanted him based on his skill set and being a Kansas kid. I figured him to be a back-up plan with a required RS, but too good to be a walk-on. This is the best possible scenerio in my book! Lock him down for next year when we have 4 scholarship openings at the guard position. A year of D-I practice should make him D-I ready off the bench in 2012-13! He'll be needed!

He hasn't been challenged much at Scott City, but I like what I see of his skill set.

What I like more is making inroads with the other parts of Kansas, support wise. WSU does well in Wichita, but everywhere else it's KSU or KU.

I am not saying WSU gets no support, nor am I stating that this signing will alter the balance of power, but my guess is we just picked up a bunch of new fans in western Kansas, and that is a very good thing...

At least to me it is.

BTW, the point guard for Scott City (#3) has shown some pretty nifty passing in the videos of Ron that I've seen. I don't know what the rest of his game is like, but he can really distribute the ball.

Will he be allowed to go on the summer trip as a non-scholarship player?

Channel 12 answered my question. Bruce H says that Ron will enroll in summer school and that will enable him to go on the trip.

                              Baker discusses his choice ...

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Maybe this just means that the offer was made before Tyler decided to leave, but it sure sounds like that scholarship is already taken by someone else.
