  • Bill Parcells Trivia Help

What uniform # did Parcells wear when he played for WSU?

    Thanks!

  • #2
Parcells never played for WSU. His first college coaching job was at WSU.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Parcells was a linebacker at WSU (well, actually WU), from '61-'63.

Dang it Royal...beat me to it!

        From Goshockers:

        Bill Parcells (Football, 1961-63)
Three-year letterman at linebacker on the 1961, '62 and '63 Shocker football teams .

        # Described as "no-nonsense" person who earned a reputation as a hard-nosed player .

        # As a sophomore, he helped the Shockers to an 8-3 record in 1961 and a berth in the Sun Bowl against Villanova .

        # Started every game his final two seasons .

        # Was a standout on the 1963 squad that compiled a 7-2 record and won the Missouri Valley Conference championship .

        # Named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference team that season .

        # In a game against Tulsa, he dominated the Golden Hurricane by making 20 tackles and six quarterback sacks .

        # Honored after his senior season by being named to play in the Blue-Gray and College All-Star games.

        # He was drafted in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions but opted for a career in coaching .

And all the while what has he done for his University. Make any visits, donate or help raise money, etc. I'm not dissing, I'm just asking because I don't know.

WSU does a terrible, Terrible, TERRIBLE job at soliciting funds for the athletic department, school, magazine, etc...
Out of the 3 schools I attended (KU being the other in-state school, and a school in Boston the third), WSU doesn't even rank as making a perfunctory effort in obtaining needed funds.

I would not be surprised if BP was ever even contacted to dontate his time, name, or money to WSU.

It's quite pathetic actually that WSU doesn't do a better job in getting donations. They should completely reorg that specific department and get with it.

According to the WSU Foundation publication 'Horizon', Parcells made a donation to the baseball indoor practice facility project.

They showed a picture of Parcells in his WSU playing days during the baskebtall game last night. His jersey number in that photo was #87.
