  • Wade Massey

Wade is one of the track athletes and he was in a motorcycle accident just the other day. He fractured both femurs, part of his right lower leg, two bones in his right extremity, some in his left, and he underwent an amputation of his left lower leg. He may have even knicked his spleen. He's in stable condition, but prayers would most certainly be appreciated for this young Shocker.

Wow, it sounds like he's lucky to have escaped with his life. He'll be in my prayers.

I noticed his name isn't on the roster on GoShockers.com. Did he not participate this year?

I looked on there too, he was participating, but he quit the team earlier this year, so technically not a Shocker athlete anymore, but once a Shocker always a Shocker

wow, i was not aware of this. when was it? how did you hear about it or was it in the news?

the last i was aware of was last year when he was on the team. he partially tore his achilles tendon and had to have surgery to repair it. he just never got back into condition to compete again, so he decided to focus on academics; as he was very intelligent and trying to get into medical school.

our thoughts and prayers our with him...

I don't if this is it but, I saw a motorcycle accident on 17th St. (between Hillside and Oliver; right by campus) late Friday night. It looked pretty bad. He and his family will defiantly be in my prayers.

the incident illustrates the dangers of "donorcycles". Even if the driver does everything correctly the margin of error is very slim for all motorist on the roadways

I hope he makes a full & complete recovery as quickly as possible.

Get well as soon as possible Wade!

Sounds like a very nasty accident, but I expect that Wade will come back as strong as he can and continue to pursue his educational goals.

                Best wishes, young man.
