The Shocker men dropped their opening match of the Spring season with a 4-3 loss at Tulsa. Tulsa is typically a pretty solid team and that would appear to be the case this year.

The scored indicate this was a pretty competitive math with the exception of the Shockers 2-6, 0-6 loss in the #6 singles.

The teams each combined to win 14 games in the doubles but Tulsa won 2 of the 3 sets to take the doubles point which perhaps provided them the margin of victory.

Saturday's match against Creighton at Crestview C.C. has been postponed due to the weather.

The Shocks fall to Utah State 4-1 in the opening round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekkend event in Ft. Worth.

They will play tomorrow against the University of Pacific who lost to the host TCU Horned Frogs.

Shocks grab the doubles point to go up 1-0.

Update: Shocks win the #1, #2, #3, #4 and #6 singles all in straight sets to go up 6-0 and clinch the match win. The #5 singles was in a 3rd set. Not sure if that will be finished or not.

In a result that was pretty much expected the Shocker men fell to #14 Oklahome in Norman by a score of 6-1. I suppose the silver lining is that the Shocks made most of the sets pretty competitive against a very good OU team.

After losing the doubles point the Shocker men take care of business in singles play to down ORU in Tulsa 5-1.

The 7th ranked Texas Longhorns were too much for the Shocker men on Friday in Austin as they defeated the Shockers by a 6-1 score.

However, the one Shocker victory came in #1 singles where Shocker So. Haru Inoue stunned the #11 nationally ranked Christian Sigsgaard in straight sets (6-2, 7-5).

The Shocks fell to #21 Cornell 4-2 on Saturday with on unfinished match in which Cornell was leading and close to winning.

The Shocks are now 7-6 on the season.

The Shocks played 3 matches this past weekend.

The defeated UMKC 6-1 on Friday afternoon in Kansas City.

Lost to Nebraska 5-2 on Saturday in Lincoln in a pretty competitive match.

And they knocked off Toledo 6-1 on Sunday in Lincoln.

Shocker sophomore Haru Inoue did not play in any of these 3 matches. I am assuming he must be injured although I have not seen anything reported.

Shocks fell to #7 Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Thursday 4-0.

Haru Inoue was back in the lineup at #1 singles. Of the three unfinshed matches OSU had a big lead in one and the other two were tied at 1 set each.

Not an unexpected outcome. The Shocks were somewhat competitive in this match.

The Shockers split a pair of matches today. They lost a hard fought 4-3 battle with Texas-Arlington and they defeated Seward County CC 5-2.

Seward County is ranked #4 in the NJCAA but not really sure why the Shocks played them especially on a day they had already played a match.

In any case the Shockers were without the services of their #1 (Haru Inoue) and #2 (Miroslav Herzan) who could not play due to illness.

Shocks open Valley play with a 7-0 sweep of Illinois State in Normal. They move down to Carbondale tomorrow to play the Salukis.

Shocks fall to the Salukies in Carbondale 4-1. SIU having a very good year. They will be dropping men's tennis at the end of this year.

The Shockers lose a tough match to Drake 4-3 to finish off Valley regular season play. Men's Tennis one of the very few sports that Drake is pretty good at.

Drake wins the regular season title going undefeated. Yes they are 3-0 in Valley play. SIU is 2nd at 2-1, WSU 3rd at 1-2 and ILS 4th at 0-3.

Next year there will be only 2 programs remaining in the Valley, Drake and Illinois State, plus any other team(s) the Valley may add to replace the Shockers.

Essentially, Drake and Illinois State will be playing as independents next year.

Shocks will need to step up their game as the AAC is a pretty good Men's Tennis conference.

The Valley/America East tournament coming up at the end of the month. This is the 4 Valley teams (Drake, SIU, WSU, ILS) plus Stoney Brook. I assume the winner of this tournament gets an auto bid to the NCAA Tournament.
