Weston Cottrell went 215-3 on his first throw and sits in 5th place. That is a new PR and I believe a new Shocker school record for Weston.

Taylor Goldsmith has fallen to 15th and is done throwing. Skylar Arneson sits in 19th and has one throw remaining.

Weston, who is done throwing, looks to be in great position to advance to Nationals in Eugene.

While Weston is still about 70' short of the world record that is still a long way to toss a 16-pound ball.

Update: Weston did, in fact, finish 5th and he is advancing to Eugene. Taylor finished 18th and Skylar finished 21st and will not advance.

Jonathan Duvall ran a 51.43 in the quarterfinals to finish 17th. 5 spots and 0.34 seconds short of what he needed to qualify for Eugene.

Looks like an average day throwing the javelin for the Shocks. None of the Shocker trio of throwers will advance.

The Men's pole vault competition was kind of interesting. 10 guys no-heighted. 6 of them after passing on earlier heights. Rice Sr. Chris Pillow (great name from a vaulter) and Arkansas Sr. Andrew Irwin both passed on the first 3 heights before missing their only 3 attempts at the 4th height.

Shazz Michael Lindo put up a season best (PR?) of 50-8.25 in the triple jump and is currently in 4th place with most of the 1st two flights in the books. Not sure that will hold up since the final 2 flights will include the 24 highest performing jumpers but nevertheless a very nice effort by Shazz.

Update: Shazz dropped down to 16th once all the flights were completed and will not advance. However, I would thing both Shazz and Coach Rainbolt are very please with the performance by Shazz.

will be kind of a down year for the MVC at the NCAA meet this year, last year we had 27 athletes qualify for the meet, this year only 18 (11 women, 7 men), so hopefully these athletes all do well.
