If you're in Cedar Falls for the basketball game this weekend you should stop by the UNI-Dome to check out the track meet! It's literally just down the hall from the basketball arena and admission is free. The meet on Saturday begins at 11am and will end around 2:30pm and will feather WSU, Indiana St, UNI and Drake.

Looks like Indiana State won the Quad at UNI today. Perhaps establishing themselves as the favorites to win the Valley championship at the end of February, although I don't think these results include the heptathlon results.

      1. Indiana State - 161
      2. Wichita State - 144.5
      3. Norhern Iowa - 143.5
      4. Drake - 75

Indiana State men are a slight favorite to win this weekends MVC Indoor Track & Field Championships with the Shocks a close 2nd followed by SIU and LOY.

Would not take much variance in form chart performances to change the outcome of this meet.

Doesn't look like it is going to be quite as close on the Men's side. Shocks may build a 10 to 15 point lead after Day 1 and the Heptathlon but I see the Sycamores taking the championship by something like 135 - 115. That's quite a few points to steal for the Shocker men.

But they run the races and events for a reason so we will see how it goes. Track & Field can be very unpredictable.

I am mostly putting this out there just to see if I have any understanding at all of this sport which is a very questionable proposition.

Good pre-meet overview and assessment by Coach Rainbolt in the video linked to in this goShockers.com report:

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Wichita State's women are second and the men third after the first day of competition at the 2015 MVC Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Huge 800 race upcoming....Shocks are 4 points behind ISU. The announcers keep saying both meets are coming down to the relay.

Shocks need a few points here with 2 runners vs ISU's 1.

10 runners vs 8 due to prelim controversy.......

WOW huge incident as WSU's Hocker is elbowed as he was going to finish 2nd or 1st down the final stretch.

                          There is a steward's Inquiry.

This is big for the team score.....WSU would have had 10 8 or 6 points....and he finished 6th. Robbie finished 8th for a point.

But the ISU runner not involved finished ahead of Hocker and without the Redbird elbow he finishes behind Hocker.

It's going to be criminal if that decides the meet. The announcers say WSU is down 7 points going into the 3k. Hocker got 6th and the ISU runner finished 2nd.

It was going to be, AT WORST Hocker in 2nd and the ISU runner in 3rd. That would be a 6 point turn around. Blows.

Shocks have 3 runners in the 3k while ISU has only 1, but it's a 64 runner field (I think) so there are no promises of points and John Mascari from Indiana State is the heavy favorite to win the race.

Results are now down 11. Don't see much chance unless WSU can go something like 2-3-4 in the 3k and I can't see that happening.

Fowl play by the Redbirds. Hard to believe isn't it.

Indiana State finishes 1st with 141 points and the Shocker men finished 2nd with 117 points.

                                I had predicted 135 to 115.
