here is the link to the championship site. Including the links to watch all events free! Good luck to WSU athletes too. We have 3 from ISU competing. The MVC needs to crown at least one male or female champion. The MVC has crowned one male or female NCAA champion for 8 straight NCAA meets (indoor/outdoor) and in 10 of the past 12.

Typically yes, we do have very good track teams (men and women). We have fared better outdoors as opposed to indoors. Our 1st MVC indoor title came in 2011. We had the indoor title won in 2012 also, but then choked it away and SIU won. Outdoors, our men and women have several titles. More than any other Indiana State athletic team.

Shocker Jr Austin Bahner (Wichita Heights) is in a 6th place tie after the 60M dash and the Long Jump in the Heptathlon.

It is very close with only 36 points separating 6th place from 12th place at this point. Austin with 1,717 points after two events is running a little behind the 1,750 he had at this point in the Valley Championship in which he set a PR.

Update Austin falls to 11th after the shot put and the long jump conclude Friday's heptathlon events. Austin has 3,093 points which is 94 points out of 8th place needed to score.

Austin is running well behind the 3,317 points he put up on the 1st day of the Valley Championships which would be good enough for 5th place after day 1 in the NCAA's.

Austin gets off to a rought start on Day 2 of the heptathlon finishing last in the 60M hurdles with a time of 8.71 which drops him to 13th.

In the pole vault Austin had a 3rd attempt at 4.5 meters (14-9) and he cleared the bar by a good margin but he didn't push the pole away and the pole knocked the bar off the standard he is out of the competition with a 4.4M jump.

There are still 3 guys in the heptathlon pole vault attempting to clear 17-8. Pretty amazing.

Austin fades to finish 16 (last) with 5,333 points. That was 312 short of his Valley winning PR score which would have been good for an 11th place finish. But I think this was the 1st national meet or Austin and I'm sure he gained some valuable experience.
