4th in men's and 3rd in the women's.

Shocks get off to pretty good start with a good showing in their opening race at the J.K. Gold Classic held at the RAFT Golf Course in Augusta.

Looks like K-State was the only other D-1 competition in the field. The Shocks Top 5 guys scored 33 points to 80 for K-State's Top 5. K-State's Fernando Roman won the 6K race in 18:37:09 with the Shockers Marcus Bailon 5 seconds back.

The encouraging aspect for the Shocker men was that they had 5 guys run faster than their fastest time last year.

I think this has the potential to be the best men's cross country team since their last MVC championship way back in 1987. They have some very good depth this year and a couple of Shocks ran unattached but may put on the uniform at the next meet. They need a consistent guy at the top like the WSU women have and they could be a MVC contender. Props to Coach Hunter who has really got the guys looking good!
