  • MVC Men's Golf Championship - Shocks Picked to Win

The Shocks were the unanimous pick to win the upcoming MVC Men's Golf Championship beginning next Monday, April 30th at Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson.

MSU received all 9 second place votes.

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

The Shocks and MSU are both in the hunt for the 2011-12 All-Sports Trophy and at this point it would appear MSU has a slight edge after the Lady Bears won the Women's Golf and the Lady Shocks finished 6th.

Hopefully, the guys have had the opportunity to play and practice at Prairie Dunes. That could be a big advantage. Prairie Dunes will be both a treat and a challenge to the golfers next week.

    Good Luck, Shocks.

Looks like they were actually up by 6 after 18 holes 288 to 294 for 2nd place Evansville.

Very consistent play with in the 1st round by the Shockers. Rafael Becker, Hunter Sparks, Louis Cohen Boyer and Calvin Pearson all card 2 over 72's and Tyler Gann whose score was not counted in round 1 was only 1 back at 73.

I think the reason it looked that way is because they were already part-way into the next round.

Yes, very respectable scores at Prairie Thickets... :good:

              .

Your right. Creighton had a 293 in the 1st round but they have fallen behind Evansville on the 2nd 18.

That particular scoring format is a little fluid. Wide swings in scores are not uncommon, especially at a course like the Dunes.

Not sure I'd ever live to see the day where OSU would struggle like this... +44 Yikes!

Rafael Becker struggled down the strectch in Round 2 as he bogeyed 6 of the last 7 holes to finish at 7 over par.

Hopefully, his teammates will be able to pick him up.

Shocks finish Round 2 at 13 over 293, 5 shots off of their first round score of 288.

Hunter Sparks and Louis Cohen Boyer duplicated their 2 over 72's from the 1st round. Calvin Pearson with a solid 73. Unfortunately, Tyler Gann triple-bogeyed his final hole (which was actually hole #1) and finished at 76.

Still some holes to play but looks like the Shocks will have around a 13 stroke cushion heading into the final round tomorrow.

All scores are in now execpt for last place Bradley which is of no real consequence.

The Shocks are up by 13 strokes over 2nd place Evansville. Only six strokes separate 2nd through 7th place.

Hopefully, the Shocks can continue to just play steady, smart golf for the final round tomorrow.

This could get dicey before it's all said and done. The Bears are not only playing well, they have the easiest part of the course remaining having started not on hole #1.

The Shocks are going to need to finish strong as I expect Missouri State to occupy the #2 spot shortly.
