Austyn Reily for UH had 3 eagles on the day. TWO of those were on Par 4s. Assuming he drove the short #1 but the other is 381 so it had to be a chip in. He had it to -7 at one point and finished at -6. Nice round. Now learn to spell Austin.

The Shocks were 7 strokes getter today with a 5-over 285 score vs the 1-over 292 they put up in Round 1.

However, their position remains pretty much that same a they are still in 7th at 17-over with Temple 2-strokes back and ECU 3 strokes back. The Shock trail 6th place Cincinnati by 9 storkes so improving their position in tomorrow's final round will be very tough.

Houston still has a solid lead as they shot 2-under today to move to 10-under for the Tournament. SMU had the best score of the day at 5-under par and are in 2nd place at even part for the Tournament.

Despite his only dougle bogey in two rounds on his final hole today Shocker Blake Lorenz shot his 2nd straight even par 70 round and sits in 10th place on the individual leaderboard.

Michael Winslow subbed in for Mathew Sandoz today and responded with an even par 70. His round included 2 double bogeys and an eagle 2 on the 369 yard par 4 6th hole. Lucas Scheufler shot 1-over 71 and Dawson Lewis a 4-over 71 today. JT Pittman had today's throw away score at 6-over 76 as a snowman on the 178 yard par 3 12th hole torpedoed his round.

At this point the Shocks goal is probably to try to hand on to 7th place.

The Shockers had their worst collective round of the AAC Championship at 14-over par dropped to 8th place at 31 over par only ahead of Temple who finished at 35-over and 11 strikes behind 7th place East Carolina.

Houston cruiesed to the Championship with a 9-under team score which was 12 strokes clear of the runner-up Cincinnati.

None of the Shocker golfers finished in the Top 20.

Shocker golf programs, both the men and women, are struggling to be competitive in the AAC. But not really sure that isn't pretty much baked in the cake base on location and weather.

            Blake Lorenz Named All-Conference

Lorenz, a junior, put together a remarkably consistent season at the top of the Wichita State lineup, recording WSU's best individual finish in seven of ten tournaments and each of the last five spring competitions. The junior led the Shockers with 98 birdies and a 72.00 stroke average, shooting 78 or better in every round this season.

The Phoenix native was the lone Shocker to log two top-five finishes, and led the squad with five in the top 20.

Congratulations to Blake. Another transfer (this one from OU) that worked out well.

There are 16 players on AAC All-Conference Team. Half of those were players from Houston, Cincinnati and UCF who will be competing in the Big XII next year.

According to golfstat.com the Shockers finished the 2023 season ranked #168 out of 294 D-1 teams.

Cincinnati finished at #40, Houston #49, and UCF at #72

Of the returning and new AAC members the rankings are as follows:
            #71 - SMU
            #78 - Charlotte
            #82 - Memphis
            #91 - South Florida
            #105 - North Texas
            #123 - UAB
            #126 - Florida Atlantic
            #128 - UTSA
            #140 - Rice
            #145 - East Carolina
            #168 - Wichita State
            #203 - Temple

Tulsa and Tulane do not sponsor men's golf.
