#27 Shocker Men's Golf Team @ Oak Hills Inviitational

The 27th ranked Shockers open their 2012 season at the 15-team Oak Hills Invitational in San Antonio (I assume this is hosted by UTSA).

Other ranked teams in the field include #32 Baylor, #34 Oklahoma, #37 North Texas, #38 Tulsa, #40 Iowa State and #50 Louisiana-Lafayette. So a pretty decent field.

Shocks put up a 5-over 289 team score in Round 1 and were in 3rd place behind La-Lafeyette (286) and Oklahoma (288). This despite the Shocks highest ranked player shooting a 4-over 75 in Round 1 and not figuring in the scoring for the Shocks.

Round 2 is in progress and the Shocks have fallen back to 11-over, 8 strokes behind current leader Oklahoma.

Shocks finish in 6th place 1 shot out of a tie for 4th but 15 shots behind the winner Texas Tech.

Hunter Sparks finally got it going today with a 1-under round today but he was 9-over in the two rounds yesterday.

The 13-over the Shocks scored in the 2nd Round was the real killer. Could have been better, but it's early.

Shocks got off to poor start in San Antonio. They apparently had a poor practice round and they had their team van stolen.
