Senior Murkel Dellien's spectacular final season has earned him a spot in the field of 64 players that will compete in the 2021 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championships from May 23-28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Dellien has been on a roll, having won 12 straight singles matches. He is ranked No. 35 in the latest ITA rankings with a 13-2 record. Seven of his wins have come at the top spot and five of them were versus ranked opponents, including No. 4 Gabriel Decamps of UCF and No. 29 Hamish Stewart of Tulane. Dellien is a perfect 5-0 against ranked competition.

    Congrats and Good Luck Murkel.

        SPECTACULAR match in progress.

Shocks trail 3-2 but Marius Frosa just completed the break and leads 3-1 in the 3rd at the #2 singles and Nicolas Acevedo just lost a tie break in the 2nd and is now going to a deciding 3rd set at the #4 singles.

Marius looks the stronger player and I expect him to close out his Sun Devil opponent here in just a bit, so the dual will likely hinge on who takes the 3rd set in Acevedo's match.

        Go Shocks!

Acevedo's opponent has been putting a ton of pressure on him at the net. He should have closed him out in 2, but now the Sun Devils have the momentum.

Marius still up a break in the 3rd at 4-2 but Stroupe breaks Acevedo and leads 2-0 in the likely deciding match. That match is not going well and Acevedo took a tumble at the end of the last game.

Marius breaks again and it's 5-2. This match is about over and it all hinges on Acevedo v Stroupe at the 4.

Stroupe is up a break at 2-0.

                Marius Frosa wins 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 and it's 3-3.

Hold the phone, Acevedo breaks Stroupe and then holds and it's 2-2 now in the deciding set. Fantastic dual in the first round of the NCAAs.

Stroupe breaks right back and it's 4-2 and the Shocks are at the edge. Sun Devils are close to closing us out.

I've got too many irons in the fire.....I think the match is actually on serve at 3-2 not 4-2. I'm trying to decipher what's going on.

The Shocks dropped the tie break at the #3 doubles match which cost them the doubles point (they split the first 2 matches).

Acevedo then dropped the 2nd set tiebreaker in his #4 match which has forced this deciding third set.

Tiebreakers have not been good to the Shocks today.

ACEVEDO BREAKS!!!! 5-4 and he'll serve for the match and to advance!!!!!

                    Go Shocks!

Argh! Acevedo is broken and it's 5-5.

                      Seriously great dual.

Really tough to tell, but I THINK Acevedo just broke and it's 6-5 Shocks...but not sure.

EDIT: Wrong. 2 really close calls after 40 all but it's 6-5 Sun Devils. Nico will serve to extend the match.

6 all and a tie break will decide the match and who advances.

Stroupe double faults on the first point but not called (not sure who calls what) and wins the point. 1-0 Sun Devils.

Changing ends after 6 points....it's either 4-2 Acevedo or 5-1 Acevedo....hard to tell.

It was 4-2 Nico. Stroupe won a tough point then held for a 5-4 lead. Then Nico had a loose point and a service winner and Stroupe served for the match at 6-5.

Nico blistered a service return down the line and it was called out...couldn't have been out by more than an inch if that.

                                Shocks lose a heartbreaker 4-3, losing the #4 match 6-2, 6-7, 6-7.

ASU won all 3 tiebreaks on the day, and they had to. Great season for Danny Bryan and his Shocks.
