The Shocks were down 3-1 after the doubles point went to Memphis and Memphis won the #1 and #6 singles with the Shocks lone point coming in the #5 singles. The Shocks had to sweep the #2, 3 and 4 singles to win the match. Eddie Stoica came through in the #4 singles with a 7-6, 6-2 win to make it 3-2 and then Murkel Delien pulled out a 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 win at #2 to tie the match at 3-all. After splitting the 1st two sets in the #3 singles 5-7, 6-2 Marius Frosa fell behind 1-3 in the 3rd set before rallying to tie the set at 6 to force a tiebreaker that Marius won 7-4 to complete the Shocker comeback.

The Shocker men headed north to Lincoln today and came away with a hard fought 4-3 win over the Huskers coming back to win 4 of 6 singles matches after dropping the doubles point.

The key match was probably the #5 singles which was the last match completed where 6-6 Shocker freshman, Stefan Latinovic, prevailed in 3 sets by scores of 4-6, 6-3 and 7-5.

More stormin' the court by the team I suspect.

The Wichita State men's tennis team rallied to win a 4-3 battle over Nebraska Friday inside the Dillon Tennis Center.

The Shockers double dipped on Sunday with an 11:30 am match vs Charlotte held at Collegiate High School and then headed over to Genisis Health Club to take on UMKC at 4:30 am.

Against Charlotte the Shocks dropped the doubles point and then came back to take 4 of the 6 singles matches to pull out a 4-3 win. This is the 3rd consecutive match shwere that has happened which has to be somewhat unusual.

After dropping the doubles point Shocker freshman Orel Orvil got the Shocks on the board with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #6 singles to tie it up at 1-1.

Fellow Shocker freshman Stefan Latinovic picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at #5 singles to give the Shocks a 2-1 lead.

Charlotte tied it back up at 2-2 with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Marius Frosa in the #3 singles.

Shocker senior Haru Inoue made it 3-2 Shocks with a tough 7-5, 6-4 win at #1 singles.

Shocker junior Murkel Delien clinched the match with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win at #2 singles giving the Shocks a 4-2 lead.

Shocker senior Eddie Stoica dropped a tight 3 set match by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 5-7 for the final score of 4-3.

Apparently, the Shocks had enough of the skin of the teeth stuff as the took the doubles point from UMKC in the afternoon match and then closed out the match with straight set wins at #4 (Eddie Stoica) #5 (Stefan Latinovic) and #6 (Orel Ovil) singles with the remaining 3 singles matches close but unfinished.

The Wichita State men's tennis team swept a doubleheader with Charlotte and UMKC Sunday at Wichita Collegiate School and Genesis Health Club.

              Shockers Roll Past Creighton, 6-1

The Shocks took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Creighton struck first in singles play with a win at #5 singles to tie it at 1-1 but the Shocks then ran off victories in the remaining 5 singles matches.

Always good to pick up a win in anything over Creighton.

The Shocks as of March 24th are ranked #50. UCF is ranked #33, USF #39, Tulane #43, and Tulsa #45. 10 of the 12 AAC members sponsor men's tennis. Cincinnati and Houston are the 2 schools that do not have men's tennis.

                    https://www.r2sports.com/system/rankings/ITArankings.asp?sportOrganizationID=792&rankingTyp eID=39&conferenceID=4&rankingsRunID=599

The Shocks have road matches remaining at SMU next Sunday and at UTSA next Monday.

The AAC Championships are on April 18 - April 21 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. UCF has to be the favorite.

The Shocks traveled to SMU on Sunday and came away with a 4-0 win in a pretty tightly contested match.

The Shocks took the doubles point and then won the #6 and #3 singles in straight sets. The other 4 matches went to 3 sets with Sr. Eddie Stoica clinching the match with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at #4 singles. The #1, #2 and #5 singles all went unfinished but all 3 matches could have gone either.

The Shocks close out he regular season today at Texas-Arlington

The Shocks finish off their regular season at 15-9 with a 4-1 win over Texas-Arlington for their 5th straight win.

The Shocks won the #1 and #3 doubles to take the doubles point.

The Shocks went up 2-0 with a win at #5 singles but UTA pulled to 2-1 with a win at #3 singles. Wins at #6 singles and #1 singles clinched the match for the Shocks.

The Shockers take a short break before taking on the American Athletic Conference tournament in Orlando, Fla. on April 18-21. I'm guessing the Shocks will be the 5th seed in the AAC Championships out of the 10 men's programs. I believe the bottom 4 seeds play in round one with the two winners joining the top 6 seeds in the quarterfinals.

WSU Earns Five Seed in American Championship

The Shocker Men are the 5th seed in the 2019 AAC Men's Tennis Championship. This is the same seed as the Shocker women except all 12 AAC members have women's tennis. There are 10 AAC teams who sponsor men's tennis. Looks like Cincinnati and Houston don't field men's tennis teams.

The bracket is similar to what you would see for the Valley Basketball Tournament with the bottom 4 seeds (7-Temple vs 10-UConn and 8-ECU vs 9-SMU) pairing off in a play-in round on Thursday.

The Shocks will play 4th seeded Tulsa at Noon EDT/11:00 CDT on Friday with the winner likely to get #1 seed UCF on Saturday.

The Shocks and Tulsa did not play in the regular season this year.

The Shocks win what could be an all-important doubles point against Tulsa in a very competitive round of matches. The Shocks won the #1 singles 6-3, lost the #2 doubles 5-7 and won the #3 doubles 7-5.

The Shocks now need to win 3 of the 6 singles matches. The are about mid-way through the 1st sets with Tulsa leading comfortably in 3 sets and with 3 sets being pretty much even.
