This afternoon's matches may boil down (pardon the pun) to who can hold up under the hot weather conditions the best. It won't exactly be a pleasant walk in the park.

Hunter survives his opponent and the heat winning 2 and 1 on Friday afternoon to move into the quarterfinals (final 8) tomorrow morning.

Hunter lost the 1st two holes of the match then battled back.

Semifinals will be tomorrow afternoon with the finals on Sunday.

      Go Hunter!

Hunter routs Bryan Norton 7 and 5 in the quarters and then goes up to stay on hole #4 in the semis against Alex Higgs and holds on for a 2 and 1 win that moves him into the championship final tomorrow against #1 seed Kyle Smell from Overland Park who will be a RS Senior at K-State this coming year.

          GO HUNTER! :goshocks:

In the quarterfinals Hunter was 8 under over the 13 holes he played. Bryan Norton had no chance.

In semis (and in the heat) Hunter was 1-under over 17 holes.

Let's hope he can duplicate this morning's effort tomorrow morning.

Championship match all square after 18 holes.

Hunter was in a great position going 2-up after 15 but he had two poor holes on 16 and 17 to allow the match to get back to square.

About mid-way through the afternoon round and Hunter is 1 down with 10 holes to play.

Hunter pulls even with a birdie on the 29th hole. Smell bogey's the next hole and Hunter goes 1-up with 6 holes remaining.

Smell birdies 13 to pull back even. We have real battle going.

14/32 halved with pars. All Square.

15/33 halved with par 3's. All Square.

This is where Hunter faltered in the morning round. Hopefully, he can put that out of his mind.

Hunter birdies 16/34 to go 1-up.

Hunter now has something he can share with his Shocker Coach, Grier Jones. Both will have their names on the Kansas Amateur Championship Trophy.

Hunter stayed hot throughout the fall season after a terrific summer.

Wichita State junior Hunter Sparks turned in a career-best tournament and took medalist honors at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Hopefully, the Shocks strong play this fall will carryover to the upcoming spring season.
