  • BCS Buster Track Invitational Saturday

This weekend the Shocker T&F teams will host the first BCS Buster Invitational at Cessna Stadium. The idea was patterned after the ESPN Bracketbuster concept getting together the top non-BCS teams in the nation. There is a nice article previewing the meet in today's Sunflower -- http://www.thesunflower.com/web/isite.dll?1303959243098

It appears on the men's side that Stephen F Austin will be the favorite with WSU and Kent State close behind.

The "featured" schedule runs from 6-9pm and it looks like it will be a beautiful evening at Cessna Stadium. Following the meet will be a live concert by local band Seven Year Itch.

This will be the last chance to see some great Shockers this year like Todd McKown, Tyler Simmons, Josh Crawford, etc. Come out, watch and cheer the Shockers on to victory!!!

The first ever BCS Buster turned out to be a great event Saturday night at Cessna Stadium. Great competition from all the teams and a fun concert afterwards had the fans smiling and cheering most of the evening!

The Shocker men had a very good meet placing 2nd behind Stephen F Austin. SFA is a VERY, VERY good squad - one of the best in the nation and the Shockers held their own very well. This should bode well for the MVC in 2 weeks.

    Some highlights...
--Brandon Childs had a big night winning the High Jump with 7-1 and then placing 2nd in the Long Jump at 24-7 going back and forth to each event at the same time. It was impressive! He had a HUGE foul that was rumored to be near 26 ft!
--2010 all-American Tyler Simmons started flashing some of his old form from before he was injured this year and jumped a big season best of 24-6 in the LJ to place right behind Childs.
--Todd McKown picked up a couple of 2nd places with 14.03 in the 110 hurdles and 21.56 in the 200m. Looks like he's getting ready to rack up some big points in 2 weeks.
--Dylan Hartnett ran another 47 second 400 and anchored the Shockers to a season best 3:13 in the 4x4.
--Jake Wike pulled away from the field to win the 1500 in 3:51. He's looking to be a great middle distance star of the future here.
--Marius Sava won the steeplechase over a solid field early in the day.
--Josh Crawford jumped 49-5 in the triple jump, just missing out on some big jumps.
--Brett Trudo beat a good field, guy from SFA was one of the best in the nation, with a throw of 220 ft.

It looks like this team is rounding into form nicely and should be a major player at the MVC in 2 weeks. Keep it up fellas!
