  • Message to Durley...

Thanks for making your free throws last night...it was big! Nice game.

It is about time he gets his own thread, as Paul Sullentrop said in a blog post the past week "This team is JT Durley and 8 other guys". You know he will show up every game.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Many of us have said he can be as good as he wants to be and could be THE player on this team. Hopefully he keeps up this work and effort.

If you look at the prouty rating charts, JT is the most consistent player on the team. No big swings in performance from game to game, just good, consistent performance.

Where in the hell has Graham Hatch's free throw shooting gone? He's a senior for gawdz sake! If he's going to give us nothing else, he's at least got to hit his dang free throws.

If you look at the Prouty ratings, he is also the most consistent player.

I am just glad he is being more selective on the three point shooting. It seemed like for several games there he was jacking up threes (even though he was making some of them). Now that he is playing with his back to the basket more, I think he has become a much more difficult matchup for opponents.

Not to take anything away from JT, but I am hopeful that TM has turned the corner on his horrible first half of the season. The last couple games, I have been very pleased with his play. If we get JT and TM both at the top of their games for the stretch run, this team will be hard to beat.

JT has been a beast. He has the stones to carry this team on his back.

One area of potential improvement for him is to recognize the double-teams more quickly and kick the ball out for open shots. The flip side is that he gets the ball up to the rim no matter what, and other guys can finish up when he misses because he draws so much attention. He takes charges, draws fouls, and makes his FT.

I about puked when he pulled-up lame vs UNI. I was seeing our season swirling down the toilet. There is no player who shows more resolve and takes over the game like JT.

JT is definetly a success story. Started out as a big man that could shoot to a pretty decent all around player. Defense and effort used to be so, so ugly. Not anymore.

I think he has decided that this is going to be his team and will go as far as he can take them. It's good to be a 5th year Senior.

By the way, did you see him shoot through the passing lane last night for a steal at half court. Couldn't believe my eyes. Way to go JT.

The problem with Durley recognizing doubles and passing out of them is that opponents are leaving Murry open to double Durley. Murry isn't taking open 3's when Durley passes out to him. Murry passes the ball to another perimeter player and the offense resets.

It seemed that after a couple of times with that happening, Durley started taking on the double-teams instead of passing out of them.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I thought I put in the link to the chart showing Durley's consistency in my post above, but I guess not. Anyway, here is the link.

I think I kind of remember this....didn't Turgeon send Durley to the scorer's table in St. Louis then brought him back? Maybe that was Chris Brown or someone else.
