I don't know why he's whining about recruiting. I don't pay much attention to them but seems like they do OK. He should thank BCG for laying the ground work, and stop bitching. Everybody would probably like him a little better.

'06 was an exciting time that WSU experiences only once in a great while. He restored a program that enabled us to get the coach that we now have. He has a top 10 team now. He has quite a record for 1st round NCAA wins. His asst coach has a career on the rise.
No question, Speed -- MT greatly helped the WSU program. And he's doing pretty well at A&M. But he was a whiner then, and he's a whiner now -- he's simply had too much exposure to it, and unfortunately it's become part of him.

I am VERY appreciative for MT's success at WSU but his whining is likely the result of his "coaching tree" silver spoon.

Or maybe he is just saying what he sees as a reality. Those 'unspoken rules' occur at every level, and just because you want to ignore them does not make them go away.

I know WSU would love to recruit a 'Burger Boy', but in all honesty, do you think it will really happen? Even if it did, wouldn't it really be an anomaly?
I would be happy just getting a couple of 4 star recruits.

May just be me , but the whining just gets old after a while.

From one of those big time, rich alums....

"Yeah....the Coach Turgeon critics are more than restless right now. The two blowout losses to tu and the OT loss to Baylor at Reed really got folks stirred up.

Hands down, tu recruits better players than A&M. I was surprised when tu handled KU with ease in Lawrence."

personally i am forever grateful to turgeon, despite his ku ties, for putting wsu back on the map. i find it hard to believe that as long as he keeps his current level of success at aTm that they will fire him since they dont give two craps about basketball.

As am I. Mark gave his all at WSU for 7 seasons. He owned and wore the job and did it with class every step of the way.

He is doing well at A&M and finally so are we with our guy.

Slightly off topic, but speaking of Mark being Mark, did anyone see the end of the CU-KSU game?

Coach Boyle, being unusually anti-Turglike, decided that up 3 they would foul. Well, they did, Pullen made the first, missed the second, got the board and eventually buried a game winning 3....unfortunately (for KSU) after review it was after the buzzer.

I suspect that's the last time Tad fouls late in the game, and Mark, if there was ever any doubt, will absolutely NEVER do it and will probably refer to this and the Vanderbilt game 7 seasons ago as references.

I admire and support every thing Coach Turgeon did as the coach at Wichita State.

He took a doggy ass program and brought it to respectability plus.

He won a conference championship and went to the Sweet 16.

Some fans had various complaints about Coach Turgeon, during his tenure at WSU. I did not support any of them.

Coach Turgeon only did one teensy, weensy, itsy, bitsy thing that upset me. I did not like it, when he recruited a player at the expense of WSU and took him to TAMU with him. It was so unlike him in my mind, I later thought that he might have asked for permission from AD Schaus to recruit the player. Perhaps permission was granted, but never disclosed to the public.

If there was ever a straight arrow, Coach Turgeon is it.

I too was not thrilled with the way that recruiting event unfolded (and the current staff won't be exchanging Christmas cards anytime soon) BUT I am always reminded of the moment starting at 5:17 that tells you exactly how Mark felt about our team and our program.

I guess that I am a hardass, but describing him accepting of that player at A & M as teeney-weeney thing is incredible to me. I was a huge Turg fan, I was at the celebration when he announced, "yeah, I'm stayin", but that is an unpardonable sin. Forever. Maybe even longer.

Mark did great things for WSU and I think most WSU fans will always think highly of him.

I wish he would have stayed.

I am glad we have Gregg Marshall.

                            Those statements are not inconsistent.

I think that it isn't likely we will go back to the Cohen/Smithson dregs anytime soon and maybe never and Mark is the guy that is a big part of that.

I was being somewhat facetious in my use of itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny.
