MT got a lot of deserved flak while at WSU over comments like "at this level" and the silly things he said about WSU vs. KSU and KU.

Given a comment in today's Topeka Capital-Journal, he clearly says what is on his mind.

It sounds familiar, doesn't it? I don't fault him at all. He is just keepin' it real.

I actually don't think lots of WSU fans disagreed wtih his statements, we just didn't like hearing publicly it from our head coach. For me, I didn't want it to become a self-fulfilling philosophy.

"At A&M, where we are, we have got to get lucky," Turgeon said. "You've got to evaluate and you've got to get lucky, and then you've got to make them better."

That's just Turg trying to protect himself and make him look like he's a great coach. "Look at what I'm doing 'at this level' or 'at this place.'" Truth is...he has tons of resources and money and should have no problem competing on the national level...even at a "football" school.

A piece of one article, no big deal. I appreciate what the staff gave to WSU. Don't forget the many years of disgrace for the program. There was a time in the 90's that basketball players spent more time in municipal court than the basketball court.
'O6 was an exciting time that WSU experiences only once in a great while. He restored a program that enabled us to get the coach that we now have. He has a top 10 team now. He has quite a record for 1st round NCAA wins. His asst coach has a career on the rise.

I don't think MT's is saying anything about resources. It's about tradidtion, crowd support etc. He's said several complimentary things about WSU's crowd vis a vi Tex AM.

I did not say that Coach Turgeon complained about resources. I was merely reinforcing another poster's comment about sufficient resources.

ABC, with everything GM has accomplished at WSU and think the local posters don't have a whole lot to complain about.

I am not sure I would give Coach Turgeon credit for improving the Aggie program in a significant manner. The previous coach left a pretty decent returning team. Current success is about the same as it was, before Coach Turgeon arrived. Of course, he could always get lucky.

He's actually setting quite a few records for new Big-12 coaches. You are correct though, he did not inherit an empty cupboard, but even in that situation there is usually a blip in the second year or so. Not in this case. All indications are he is picking up steam.
