I feel for Ted the Sportshead and the Lockeroon show...
... and I pity the assistant coach who had tonight's scout. :(

      • This year is really starting to feel like the senior year for Randy, jamar, and rob. It seemed like they just couldn't protect home court despite the "talent."

UNI seems to spend twenty seconds of every possession identifying the mismatch and then they go to work. They don't mind working at the end of the shot clock and refuse to beat themselves. For WSU to succeed against them we are going to have to build an early lead....

Here's the deal. N. Iowa seems to be the only Valley opponent that has our number here at 21st and Hillside. They beat us tonight at at our own game with a score of 77-74. They shot the lights out at 57.4% from the field. UNI played their smartest game since beating KU last Season at the Dance. Not even Indiana State could help us tonight. We had to help ourself but could not do it here at home. Talk about an uphill battle that we now face, which is nothing new.

What does it all mean? We love our Shocks and are with them all of the way. Even so, this is what it is. As usual, we start off the game with 2 turnovers. Typical slow starts seem to backfire against us versus good teams. Coach Marshall is concerned that Durley broke his foot? Let's hope not. Indiana State comes to town now. Keep fighting Shocks. It's not over until it is over!!!!!!! 6-2 is not the end of the world, but several tough games are futuristic on our Valley docket.

            • UNI is so much better coached than WSU its not even funny. They were clearly the better team tonight. Emphasis on the word team. We have more individually talented and athletic players for the most part, but UNI is light years ahead of us in terms of basketball IQ. They had 6 turnovers. Six! And they knew exactly what they were going to do with every single offensive possession. It wasn't even like they just hit a bunch of guarded shots. Most of their jumpers were wide freaking open.

Having said that, the officiating on drives to the basket was absolutely horrendous. The refs had no clue what to do when UNI drove the basket.

                • Actually, UNI played about as well tonight as they did against KU last year.

And Wichita State is, well, you know, obviously lacking a go-to-guy. 16-18 pts per game from somebody? That's asking way too much from this team. Hell, a consistent 13-14 pts per game from somebody would be nice.

I've now given up expecting a fast start in games from this team. It's not in them.. or the importance of it is not stressed to them.. something.

                    • Looking back, I think the LSU and Tulsa games were an indication of trouble ahead. We should of beat those teams much easier.

I couldn't see the game since there wasn't Shockervision. It sounded like a great college game for everybody to enjoy except Shocker fans. Unfortunately our defense probably made it a fun game to watch.

I sure hope Durley is not hurt as bad as it currently sounds. I will feel for him if he has to end his career sidelined.

                      • As much as we might be hurting after a tough loss.

WSU is one game out of first place, and playing one of those first place teams Saturday.

As do I, although I don't know if this team is underachieving or were simply overrated.

We clearly miss Clevin's leadership at the point.

Not sure this team really thinks the prize is worth a max effort.

It could be a heck of a conference race. It's just that we hoped for much more.

                            • Seems like we start every game with 4 turnovers before we even score. UNI scored 9 points off of our turnovers in the 1st half. We made Anthony James a hero tonight.

UNI got more out of their 2 seniors than our seniors gave us. Where in the heck was Murry tonight on Offense? I only saw him score 2 points one time on a backdoor pass under the bucket and that was it.

Well, my Shocker bubble got burst tonight, and a large dialback to reality set in. We could end up in 3rd or 4th by the end of February. I am not convinced that we can win on the road at UNI, INdy State, or MOST. And I would sure hate to lose to Creighton on our home court.

I have said it before, Jacobsen is a better coach than McDermott is.

                              • really frustrating game. we got their late, like many, and the energy was lacking. I'll still never understand the whole stand up and cheer until the other team scores and then sit down thing... just an odd crowd thing to do.

I would like to have seen more zone played but I'm not the coach. I would like to have seen Ben play more but... oh well. Tough loss and a really tough loss if JT is gonna be gone.

I don't see this team winning the valley tourney. I hope they do and I hope I'm wrong.
