Maybe UNI had the team flu when they played the Sycamores.
Simply put: They played the offensive game of their lives. Sure it didn't help that WSU was giving them a lot of open looks and their defense was shaky at times. But Northern Iowa is a team that has been averaging like 47 points on the road in Valley play. They shoot pretty bad normally around 42 or 43%. Their even more atrocious from 3-point range.

Chuck it up to one of those nights where they get every bounce and make every shot with their eyes closed doing circus tricks types of nights. They won't have one of those again this season.
I agree in spades. To salve over my disappointment, I finally consoled myself by your statement above.

The Panthers have a philosophy for winning as follows:
    1. Control the clock/patience/run the sets over and over until there is a good shot.
    2. Play tough defense
    3. Minimize fouls
    4. Minimize turnovers

When the Panthers do the above and shoot 57.4%, they are tough to beat.
While the Panthers were not great in #1 and #2, they were quite fine in #3 and #4. They only had 13 fouls and 6 turnovers.

For what it is worth, in my opinion, Jake Koch is a front running dog.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I think the way they were putting everything up from everywhere that they probably could have beat about 95% of Division I teams last night.
Well, we did shoot just 1% less from the field than they did (57.4% to 56.3%) and made exactly the same amount of FGs (27) so I wouldn't blame this loss solely on UNI shooting lights out, since we did the same. Our defense needs to take a look in the mirror because smart, well coached teams just destroy us by shooting lights out all the time.

Also, if we hadn't just given them the ball via steal seven times, we'd be talking about winning a close game, instead of wondering about what happened.
The only thing is we are a good offensive basketball team. We lead or in the top 2 or 3 of a lot of offensive categories in the Valley. We "flow" better. Contrast that with UNI who ranks near the bottom of all those categories.

I'm not gonna say that our defense was stellar by any means, but sometimes teams just go off. That's what it seemed like was happening last night from my seat. Even with stellar defense, sometimes a couple of players get "in the zone" and you can't stop it.

Judging by UNI's distance from a normal shooting night for them and a normal offensive output for them, I think they could have beat anybody last night, including teams that played good defense, IMO.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

It would be best for you to just let this one die. You got strangled pretty badly at the end of this thread. Not one single person defended any of your Kyles BS. In fact, everyone was against you. But, of course, everyone else is wrong, right?

A total inaccurate dissection of Mr. Kyles, while the guy you love to defend and needle me to the end, Mr. Murry, has yet to been batted an eyelash.

You sir are one french fry short of a happy meal with this whole argument.

Again, it's best to just let it die and save yourself from further lack of credibility..

What's your simple question? That a 50% three-point shooter shoots 70% of his shots from 3-point range?

Keep digging. Let's see how low you can go.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree to disagree with you then. Publically calling someone a douche-sponge is therapeutic, and when the Shox lose we get LOTs of therapy on this board. Muhahahah! Good luck moderating if we lose another home game this year! (and yes I am completely joking, for those humorless douche-dobbers out there)

Believe it or not you're getting warmer. And by the way he is not a 50% shooter, but a 44% shooter. And, before you get excited again, 44% is an excellent percentage.

But here is my SIMPLE point. David shot 60% over the course of the first 7 games. He was, I believe at the time, in the top 5 in the country. Now he's nowhere in the top 100. Since the SDSU game he is 23-67 (34%). He was so unconscious during the first 7 games, it was like he almost felt invincible. He hit balanced 3's, unbalanced 3's, on the run 3's, etc...Just like you said about UNI's win last night "sometimes teams just go off. They won't have one of those again this season." David went off for 7 games. I think in his mind he will have another streak like that so he keeps shooting many of the same shots. A. They are not going in at the same rate, and B. He is taking bad 3's. I just want him to trade those bad 3's and use his God-given talent in other point-producing ways.

I know David isn't a 60% 3-point shooter, but I also think he is better than 34%. A better recognition of what a good 3 attempt is, the better he will shoot. I want him to trade those bad 3 attempts for a better shot elsewhere...whether he takes it, or improve on his 1.5 assists...just sayin.

That is pretty profound thinking when for the season he's shooting 44% from the 3pt field. I can't wait for your next profound thought.

Oh come, I want to hear one more time that you know that Kyles is better than a 30% 3pt shooter (when he's shooting 44% for the season. Or how he's not been playing well for the last 7 games, when in reality he is shooting 50% from the field and 45% from the 3pt line in the last 3 games.

The real issue is this team has a couple seniors who are turnover machines and basically have not improved since last year or have taken a step back in some areas.
