Here's the deal. Our next 2 home games may not be a walk in the park. UNI was hit hard by graduation but their starting 5 is not bad. Last Season, they went 8-10 strong, similar to our quality depth this Season. Here are some questions to ponder. Will our true point guard please stand up. Right now, we will do it by committee. Even so, DWill looked tough last night most of the time during his 18 minutes played. Next, is the learning curve trajectory for team improvement of our beloved Shocks on an upward spiral? If not, we can still win most home games but are going to be vulnerable versus the better teams.
A case in point was our 19 fouls and 17 turnovers, which were both more than Drake's 15 and 10 count. How did we overcome those areas of weaknesses? 45 bounds and 15 assists versus Drake's 20 and 6 count. Thus, we are doing some things very well and our quality depth seems to come alive the 2nd half.
Lastly, I want our Shocks to quit sputtering so bad to start the game and be willing to take the opportunity to work the ball into our bigs for some high percentage baskets. This will not only open up the outside but hopefully draw lots of fouls on UNI. The last few games, we come down court and are lucky to even get a shot off the first few possessions. Then we have started the games as cold as ice from the 3-point line, but just keep firing away. We have 4 solid bigs and I would like to utilize this strength from jump-street. Last night, JT did not score at all the 1st half, but then had a solid 2nd half.
