  • Point guard issues

ok, the fun is over. We have point guard issues and need to get it figured out quick. I like what Ragland brings to the table and would like to see more. Murry's shot has disappeared. DWill still too sloppy but also still a good backup option. I hate to rail on Murry too much but what a terrible game he played tonight. We need help.

That was the worse game I have seen Murry play, and of all nights to do it!!!
The whole team was having an 'off' night shooting, you can tell that from our free throw percentage tonight.

The team did not look ready from the start of the game (losing the tipoff to begin with), and with our post players, why is it that big of a problem to get the ball inside to them. The first half we just shot from the perimeter ......

If we are going to breakdown like we did tonight, you can kiss the big Dance goodbye.

Is Kyles going to join back up with Offense at some point? Hatch and Murry both have issues with their shot, and they need to take care of it.

Put Murry at the 3 and let him pass/rebound/drive from there already. Hatch might not get to start, but it doesn't really matter who starts anyway, right?

I actually like that idea. Murry isn't and never has been a shooter. He is really a slasher, which there is nothing wrong with.

Unless you're slashing uncontrollably and turning the ball over.

Point guard slashing is a bit different in the flow of the offense than is small forward slashing, I would think (receiving the ball in different spots on the floor, etc.). Maybe that would make a difference.

Murry like to drive the baseline. Put him at the 3 for gods sake.

Rags should be pg backed by DW

I am the biggest Murry fan around, but enough already. Go Joe!

This. And especially if the offense didn't execute the play out of the time out. Time for a change.

Coach Marshall did make mention of Toure's 6 turnovers tonight. However, I wonder if Coach might do this due to his 11 bounds and being one our most consistent overall players thusfar according to the Prouty Ratings posted by Shocker 1979.: PG-Ragland SG-Kyles SF-Toure' PF: JT, C-Stutz or Blair.

I remember a few Seasons ago when Ellis and Hatch came off the bench and did a solid job giving us high energy levels. The only thing that bothers me is Ben Smith has played solid at times lately as well. Who would come in for Kyles because Ben and Hatch normally play the 3? Hmmmm.

Murray didn't just happen to have an 'off night' or a 'bad game' tonight, but rather, he was exposed as someone not cut out for the roll that has been thrust upon him. He's a 2 or a 3. If we don't get a true point guard running the show effectively, we will continue to lose to the more talented teams.

And it's well known that a good juco player will hit his stride in mid-January. Gee look, it's Jan. 10.

Hello Joe, let's roll. Hatch can do his thing off the bench, unless Ben Smith continues to grow. It is Jan. 10 after all.

I think Joe has one issue nobody seems to notice that Keeps Murry as the starter... He doesn't transition well or pass well in transition like Murry does. I don't think Joe has a lot of "court vision". I think Joe is a fine pg but not for a transition team that Marshall wants to be. Personally I would start Williams at the point. I was wondering at the end of the game last night why Williams who was 2/2 last night from the 3 line was not on the court instead of hatch.
