  • Uconn beats Texas in OT

They were starting to worry me a little bit after playing South Florida close and losing to Notre Dame, but this is a big win for them on the road. Oriakhi is an absolute beast. 11 points and 21 boards, 10 of them offensive. Kemba scored his usual 20 points.

the OT was insane. my jaw was down for about 5 seconds after that shot clock-beating 30-footer went in.

kemba didn't shoot many free throws. i think he only shot 5! we would have smoked UCONN had we had these officials.
And Oriakhi is ... the man.

Higgins will call 50 fouls next time he is here.

GQ is actually a good referee though.

UCONN was 0-2 in true road games this year. They play great at home and on neutral courts. They struggle on the road.

Make that 1-2. The game was at Texas.

That is why I said WAS 0-2. This was UCONN's first true road win. BTW- Warren Nolan has our rpi at 35 now. Missouri State is at 47.

How about this scenario? We play K-State and beat them in the 1st round of the Dance, just like we did in the practice game last Season. Next, we beat UConn like we should have except for the 43-13 throw disparity. Next we beat SDSU because we will be peaking by then and could beat them at 21st and Hillside anywho. Then we beat KU, just like we did at the Battle Of New Orleans. How about that pipe-dream? Right now, let's just beat Mo-State and gain the Valley Race lead alone. That would really be cool for now, but it nice to daydream.

Of course we all know that Walker is good, very good. But it took 27 shots to score 22 points. He shot 29.6% from the field, which tells me that he may have hurt his team today. Based on % Smith and Napier had the "hot hands."

Glad they won, though. Our RPI went up three today.

Kemba is starting to remind me of Allen Iverson. Yeah, he'll get his 25+ points per-game but how many shots does it take to do it? To be fair however, UCONN would be average at best without him so they need him to shoot.

I think Walker is starting to wear down already. Very hard for a guy his size to carry a team night after night logging all those minutes. CT will falter late in the season but we still appreciate their help today.

By the way, congrats to Darrin Horn and the Gamecocks. Hope he has a great year.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.
