More proof that money runs everything--even in a so-called 'amateur' organization like the NCAA.

Pullen gets 3 games for receiving gifts (is that right?) from a store, and Clevin gets the same punishment for a clerical error he wasn't even aware of. Yeah--that's real fair.

Perhaps the NCAA should have added another sipulation: For any of the 5 players suspended for next year and who do not return next year, Ohio St and the Big 10 will lose 20% of all revenue received by the Sugar Bowl appearence for each non-returning player. OR: Suspend all 5 players for the Sugar Bowl game and the first 2/3 games next year.

Interesting contrast. Sometimes it is frustrating to root for a team and a school that has to overcome some additional obstacles to rise to national prominence. Things like this make it worth it. Only one of the three DI state schools has a basketball team not currently enveloped in controversy. I know which one I'm rooting for.

Sometimes... not always, and not nearly enough, but SOMETIMES the good guys win. I'll take our guys any time. I don't care how many stars someone is rated, character is more important.

I think some folks should be careful about getting too excited. One, WSU does not have D1 football, so that is 85 less male scholarship athletes, who traditionally don't have the best GPA. Those of us old enough to remember Shocker football recall that in their last season several football players were involved in the theft and fraudulent use of a phone card stolen at the Fairmont towers.

Further, making implications of a crime being committed by Jake Pullen or Curtis Kelly is potential slander. Dillards does not condone shoplifting regardless of the perpetrator. Further, the Riley County sheriff/DA are more than willing to prosecute any crime committed by an athlete. So far, NO CRIMINAL CHARGES.

To state that KU or KSU is "envoloped" in controversy is absurd. KU is known for having tremendous athletes and being damn good. KSU is known for not living up to the preseason expectations.

I think people don't realize how easy it is for athletes to get in trouble with the NCAA. If you see a table of bball players at a resturaunt, and want to pay their tab, that is a violation. I'm sure if you look back at what got the Shocks on probation in the '80s, you would see how pidly these things can be.

Some good points for sure, and although I am lukewarm on KSU, and do not like KU at all, you can't deny the success they've had. My problem is with the corruption of the NCAA.

Regardless of what Pullen did or did not do, it's clear he did something in violation of the 'rules'. Clevin did nothing at all--it wasn't his mistake, yet they get the same punishment? It's a bit ridiculous. The situation at Ohio State I'm quite sure is only the tip of the iceberg. Let's face it--money talks and money can also make people look the other way.

It parodies so many things that are trying to put on a face of 'fairness' and uniformity when in fact, there is anything but.
